Yeah directly from the distributors website, koppert. Its hidden in there somewhere...
They say to use castor bean plants as "banker" plants in greenhouses when you are growing a crop that swirskiis cannot survive on. Swirskiis can survive on castor bean pollen. I for one am trying to get everyone hip to heat treatments and swirskiis for bms. They have worked much better than the cides for me, and its not tainting the medicine. Even in a hydro setting the plants seem to love it. Swirskiis are killed by heat treatments so its best to do a few heat treatments and then introduce the swirskiis.

A space heater and turning off my ac seems to do the trick within 15 minutes. I do vert lighting so dropping the bulb down as low as I can gets the room warm fast. A laser thermometer is needed, go around the room and check temps of the floor. I am building a few new rooms and I am gonna do an initial heat treatment before plants go in to promote any off gassing.

ha you just answered one of those google searches ive been meaning to do. when visiting organic and permaculture influenced farms in tropical areas ive always been puzzled by the inordinate amount of castor plants i see all over the place. too many to be accidental and not enough for it to have been an intentional crop.i figured there was a a reason. thanks. forgot about that.

Really thats cool, I have been telling all my outdoor bros about it. I want bms controlled naturally. I fear the continuous use of the cides will result in a super mite. . .

well on the super mite and cides deal. if you use cides at all use more than one and make sure they wok differently. kontos plus forbid for example. forbid and avid etc otherwise you will only be raising the ones that survive one type of kill method/

Yeah, I got bms in flower and veg before.. I have kontos forbid avid conserve and a few others..heat treatments were easier for me being that i didnt have to suit up and the plants seem to like the high RH sauna for an hour. Me and my fellow growers are growing for some patients with aids epilepsy cancer etc, its much easier to imagine them puffing a few swirskiis than some cides. Of course cides have their place I suppose when you are quarantining new genes. My duds were new and isolated from all plants for a month, looked fine other than the nodeless "witches broom" growth, after they started vegging. Stem nematodes would be harder to "cook" because they will hide in the plant. If you heat treat your media and then use predatory nematodes it would theoretically be effective. Perhaps pred nematodes, when propagating would a part of the ipm that I hope we come out with from this thread.

Honestly I think with all these different brains operating differently on different parts of the globe we might be able to come out with an awesome ipm for our favorite plant. I am not hating on cides by any means, but an all encompassing ipm would be ideal. Cannabis has showed me that so many of the answers reside in nature and its derivatives....idk maybe I'm just a hippy.

with so many people saying they got dud cuts from PO I am assuming these little bastard zombies live in the stems of fresh cuts ? or are the tods getting in them from our grow rooms ?

their grow room our grow room, at the end of the day i would guess its an interchangeable concept to them. an infected room cut will infect a cut going out if its possible. whhether its our room or theirs these things seem to spread to some degree.i dont think po is a magical place where bugs spread easier than others its just about scale and notariaty. if its possible to do so they can beat it too if they figure it out. maybe someone who knows these guys should give a call or an email with a link to this thread.

well if it is tods it has to be either in my coco or my room, I cant see any other way , again I can get a healthy cut of sour dub, and have duds within 2 runs.

PO knows full well that they are spreading pathogens. There have been many complaints, including from employees, who were promptly fired. They care about $$$, not us. I think the only way to make them sit up and pay attention would be to get a number of folks with signs, demonstrating in front of their place, and calling them out publicly. Local news coverage of such an event would out them in a way they couldn't ignore.
They have created their own version of Forbid resistant
BMs.
That said, I cannot understand why people who have gotten infected cuts from them continue to go back.

Steinernema carpocapsae and Steinernema feltiae are said to be effective against Ditylenchus dipsaci.

I do know that S. feltiae kicks ass against broad mites, fungus gnats, and root aphids.

I see people talk a lot about PO having bugs here but then on IG all the people with PO cuts don't look infected, they look dank.. I think maybe they resolved their issues? Or maybe I'm being naive, I don't know. I'm not trying to find out.

If you put 6 different chems on them, how will you know which ones work/don't work?

you gotta point retro but i ca also see just doing what it takes to get it in the rear view asap regardless of it not being a good way to experiment. given what hes sitting on what hes been through it would be any and all means necessary if it were me once a target appeared. but i was thinking the same thing. i think its going to be clearer what to do once a lab report comes in. im missing the friday boat but i just recieved another dud. it was given to me by a well versed dud member. ill get it in monday its sitting pretty in my fridge atm.

i find it hard to believe that they are still just doing nothing. i dont have a dog in the po race. never been and ill never go. purely from a business standpoint i can only imagine your story is a bit dated.when bms were a newish phenomenon i can imagine they maybe didnt believe or were in denial but at this point i would think they were handling it. how long ago did you hear the employee firing story? have you heard recent stories? is this still the deal? as far as duds go im pretty certain we are probably hearing this before them. if it is a problem they are spreading then im guessing they may not even know its nature. they probably are not sure they are actually spreading something versus being blamed for an invisible boogeyman. whether thats a valid take on it is up for debate. we saw how sl handled it. at first it was probably a bit hard to grasp and much easier to point to user error than you believing you are patient zero in a brand new unknown mystery pathogen epidemic. please correct me if im wrong im just trying to make sense of why they would continue if its something they could cure.

Can Storm Shadow and Whatthe215 provide pictures, and descriptions of what was wrong with the plants that had stem nematodes?

I would like to gather the findings, and create short tek, on whatever problems the community is experiencing, in the way of difficult to identify diseases/parasites.

The same reason they kept spreading, and continue to spread BMs on their cuts. They knew it was happening, and did nothing to stop it. They did start spraying/dunking cuts in Forbid, until they created Forbid resistant BMs. You can't make this stuff up. Greed makes people do bad things.
Don't want to take my word for it?
Here is some linkage:
"Also i would like to credit Progressive Options nursery in San Fernando Valley for creating a super bug. "we just spray forbid and they're dead." that's what they told me. Yeah right. Their forbid4f must be the special kind that comes with an extra dose of denial.
Please for the love of god nobody go there or your life may be changed for the worse. These critters cost me 2 crops before i even knew what they were. Good luck and good fortune to all:)"

"I have been battling these fuckers since Progressive Options, gave them to me. They are developing a resistance to Avid and Forbid. Dont let anyone tell you otherwise. I have followed the Avid, Forbid, Azatrol routine and they still come back!!! I have old school friends who have been growing for decades, lose their entire strain collection.

The only thing that will kill these fuckers is the heat PLUS co2 poisoning. I set up a 1000w MH in a 5x3 ft closet. I also put a small propane burner. I "cooked" the plants for about 3-4 hours. NOW I am broadmite and Russet mite free!!!! Thanks Retro for the heat idea. It seems like the CO2 posioning really helps kill these horrible pests. "

"nope. it's worse than that. Progressive Options is the one that has a LOT to do with the spread and the resistance... at least for cali.
they are still spreading BM's every day to every one that walks through their doors. they don't care and they've even had old employees online talking about the fact that they do it all on purpose.
i hear they are opening another location too.... "

"90% of clones purchased in So. Cal have all been infested with some type of Bugs, the worse of the bunch are Broad Mites, which is turning into an epidemic. No easy task getting rid of them, especially PO clones since those idiots created Broad Mites that laugh at Avid."
Can't post link, as it's a competing site. Posted in the last few months, though.

"Good luck I'd advise you pop some beans yeah it's more expensive in the start but I've got fake cuts, pm BM you name it from P.O. Back in the day have at it the kiddies at Riu rave about them but yeah pop some seeds if you have the budget for it LA cup is coming up will be cuts there and fine genetics. Just a heads up"
From "the farm"....can't post link.

"don't go... i've spent a lot of money there in the past couple years and i've seen them digress further and further. their broad mite situation is out of control now and they just use powerful miticides repeatedly to keep them at bay, and the mites are slowly building a resistance to them and they also dud their strains at the same time. the broad mites ruin a strain for a long time even after they are gone. i've gotten at least 10 strains from there over the past couple years and every one was RUINED when i got it. i've been searching for earthshaker og (po #3) for a long time because of some bud i smoked of it and i never did get a clean cut. i bought a bunch of po #3 clones from PO and they were so badly infested with broad mites when i picked them up that i saw them everywhere under the scope. i still have that strain and it is so dudded (even though it is clean now) that it will barely grow. i am trying to flower some just to cross it with some pollen i have, but it won't even flower properly... it is the most damaged strain i ever got.
this is a short list off the top of my head of strains that were still dudded out and produced hemp like buds even after having a mom for a year or more- tahoe og, earthshaker og, skywalker og, skunk #1, power, ken's gdp, gsc, and blue dream... i've never once got to smoke flower of a strain i bought from them.."
The farm. Recent post. Can't link.

"PO is basically the mite capital of So Cal. Be careful."
Farm.
"their bug issue set me back thousands of dollars. I dipped in avid but it didn't stop shit. They have immune bugs there".....the farm....

"Progressive Options is THE reason they are so resistant. i've talked to the owner and he almost straight told me that they were trying to make them chemical resistant.
i wish it were as simple as using neem with these bastards... but even avid and forbid are quickly becoming useless thanks to PO.

i've never been scared of a bug, but these broad mites have kept me on my toes and have cost me thousands. i finally think i am approaching the end of my battle though, and it looks like i'm going to win.

so when are all of us going to band together and run PO out of town?????? i mean that literally too.. i honestly believe they are trying to eliminate the grow scene by breading super bugs. they are doing a very good job too... every grower in California should be spreading the bad word about progressive for the sake of everyone. i don't know why there isn't a sticky'd thread titled "Beware Progressive Options" "
Again, can't link, but how much proof do you need?
" I know one of the main suppliers of po, dude has had every problem I can think of. He also treats the issues he has dealt with in an unethical way - avid, forbid, floramite, eagle20, etc... so yes a super bug might be the case."

That's enough for now.

thats a lot of posts and i dont doubt what they say. i guess i just want to think anyone selling clones would do what it takes once they figured out what that was. maybe not. ill never shop there. ive not heard the best of them from folks who dont hate them. they said they were a lackluster outfit providing cuts that are of questionable veracity. thanks for the answers.

I know my BMs came from a GDP cut sourced from PO. I never had run a cut of anything until then, then my issues turned up...this was years ago.

I have heard(only heard yes second hand info and some interweb lore) that po knowingly hands out infections and "budtenders" quit after asking management to stop...they are the only dispensary I know of that has a broad mite section on their website. Honestly I havent check many other dispos sites....Maybe that is an example of their integrity, perhaps it is to clear up old drama. I dont know....just saying google "progressive options broad mites" and then google any other so cal dispensary of your choosing with broad mites attached in the query. PO gets multiple hits....many of them lead right back here.
