Over the edge with edibles

Of course the single serving packaging may be understood by some to mean, "Cool, I need to buy 5 packs!"

I've been concerned that edibles would get us in trouble because of people's kids getting into them, or just novices who do more than they can handle.

Recently there was a female reporter/editorial type writer(can't remember her name now) that went to CO and got a candy bar and had a bad experience because it was a 10 serving bar and she ate half of it. Claimed they did not tell her and it was not marked on the package.

Now, that's wrong to not inform folks. Especially in a retail environment where any lightweight can come in and score edibles. We're seasoned potheads and know what's up and forget that everyone else isn't.

Guy brings me a cookie the other day. Says it's really strong. I'm a seasoned old hippy pothead, so I chow that whole baby down.:dance013:

2 hours later, I'm trying to hold my head off of the table, mumbling about how these things should be illegal. Holy Cow!!! I was fried to a crackly crunch.

Yeh, I hate it when my balls turn out to be bigger than my brains. At least pot won't kill you, unlike a lot of other things where excess bravado definitely can.

I think single-dose, properly labeled packages are a perfectly reasonable way to address the problem.

I certainly wouldn't want to chow down of a 10-dose candy bar by mistake. And it just ain't normal to open a candy bar, cut a little piece off it and wrap the rest back up. There are bound to be mistakes made.

A high percentage of those buying edibles will be using them for the first time and don't know how bad too much can make them feel. Maybe it would be a good idea for pot shops to put up warning posters. Being informed can save a lot of grief and if someone overindulges they can't say they didn't know.

Naturally the prohibition crowd is going to grab anything they can find to discredit the legal marketplace. Seems it would be a good idea for vendors to voluntarily start labeling and informational programs. If there's a perception that they're being responsible businesses without having to be forced into it by legislation it's better for all.

It hits the spot.

Edibles are not a good place to start for newbies :tiphat:

I just took 3 X Full Eyedroppers of Ganja Glycerin under the tounge.

There is NASCAR Race coming on.

We'll see how it goes. I tried it before and was very pleased.

I think I will smoke this joint of Pre-98 Bubba to kick start it.

Peace

Oh so this time the news says it's the pot's fault and not the gun's but when the other looney guy shoots up a theater it's the gun's fault and not the pharm's. Crazies will be crazies, mind altering substances, and guns or not. smh. Personally I like edibles better as long as it not some random unknown concoction. You don't have to worry about the smell of smoke, especially if you're in a no smoking area/home/work and for those not consuming in excess (as sooo many do) a longer lasting edible effect might be preferred. My entire life I have seen people do things in excess, whether they were warned or not. Anyone with the wrong mid set going for edibles is a wreck in the making too. Like, "Dude, I wanna get sooo high!" half a pan of brownies later they're in the Andromeda galaxy when really they only wanted to touch the top of a tree.

When Americans stop being fat asses that we are and start eating a healthy serving of candy and not something with an ounce of sugar maybe just maybe things will change a little. THough dark chocolate would prob be a better solution since most people aren't inclined to eat a whole bar of 70% cacao at once. The brownies do get me though, The dose on some single brownies could last me for days or weeks in small portions and sometimes you just want to chow down and be a fatty^

Regulators & providers are working together to try to take some of the guesswork out of edibles-

http://www.thecannabist.co/2014/07/...ibles-manufacturers-face-tougher-rules/17420/

Not my thing, but I do like the idea of candy bars being easily broken off into 10mg servings, like hershey bar squares, tootsie roll segments or similar. Makes it easy for the newbies.

OTOH, there's no getting around the problem of having more balls than brains.

Love it or hate it, it's part & parcel of the legalization & commercialization of cannabis products, part of the public awareness learning curve as well.
