New garage grow room build

Hey everyone, I recently began constructing a new grow room in an extended portion of my garage. I'm in mid construction and also have some mosca C99bx1 3 weeks into flower. I need to have this room built and running by the 10th of August so this will serve as a grow log and room build thread.

I have never in my life built a wall or anything like that so this is a first. Youtube to the rescue! Lol... The area will be 5.5' wide and 10' long, but has a water heater on a 3'x3' base taking up some space. I'm going to use a DR90II as my mom and clone area with a 400w metal halide in a super sun 2 running on a lumatek dimmed to 250. It will be cooled by a 424 cfm vortex slowed down with a speed controller. Ill be usung a phresh intake filter as a light block and intake scrubber for it as well.

For flowering im running a 600w lumatek and will make a 40"x40" area as seen below. The 600w hood is a blockbuster cooled by a 424 cfm vortex with a 6"x16" phresh filter. The room will have a 12"x24" intake pulling in from an adjacent laundry room that stats very moderate in temp year round. I'll be building a light baffle and using louvers to eliminate any light that might seep through. Here is my outline of what I have planned:

Here is the area im going to frame in:

Construction begins! Wall gets assembled:

Put in place:

...and I finally got the door shimmed properly before having to stop for the night:

Tonight I have to crawl in the attic and add a support beam in, then I start on drywall, insulation, and trim. Then I'll start cutting for my intake and exhaust. Also I have to run a 60amp outlet that is currently in another room into this room. Then get my flowering girls in here and get the veg tent set up!

Wish me luck! I'm open to suggestions too. I may end up going with a 1k down the road but for now this is what I'm shooting for :tiphat:.:dance013:

looking good, but can't help wondering if you need a plumber or sparky how they gonna get to the water heater? ......lol

Lol well, this is a legal medical grow first off. Secondly it wouldn't be hard to remove the contents of the room for maintenance when necessary.

Don't mean to be the bearer of bad news but your gonna fudge with the operation of the water heater venting an blow out the pilot or worse if its done this way. Wall off from the water heater. Been there done that in my old 4k garage grow. I'm sure others will agree.

The neg pressure will pull air down the fluke. I would wall off from the water heater to the wall u got up now.

Shit that is terrible news, I just got the drywall up. I'm not sure I understand what you mean by wall of the water heater to the wall that's up now?

Just add a wall across to get water heater outta there an unfortunately cut out drywall in the section where the water heater is to bring it outta the neg pressure.

Man that really sucks! lol ... can anyone else confirm? Although Im sure your right, it makes sense it would do that.

Simply creating a grow room wasnt the only purpose for doing this though, I wanted it to be stealthy behind locked doors. Taking out the drywall there completely ruins that and will make the whole thing look cooky as hell lol.

Im gonna have to think on this theres gotta be another way. Maybe I should just get a DR120 for flowering and stick it in there, venting the intake outside and doing the same with the veg tent so it doesnt interfere with the water heater?

Either that or wall off the water heater and give it its own intake, but then I gotta figure out access when its time to replace/repair.

Wall off the heater an add a raised door for access an above or below door run ducting to a wall to eliminate it being in your neg pressure grow room.

Now that could work! Would I need some kind of intake fan to get air to the water heater or would the air naturally be drawn in through the duct when the water heater turns on??

What size ducting? 6" be enough?

2 x the size of the fluke would do. 8" probably since i think fluke ducting is 4". No fan needed either. The positive pressure will blow it out too. Just passive.

The worse that could happen is the do-hicky sensor doesn't shut off gas when pilot gets blown out an gas builds up.........boom!

Or just cold showers lol. Better to play it safe. This is not code though, but if ya going for stealth then it will do.

if for whatever reason that doesnt work for you, you can always get a tankless electric water heater instead of your current gas style.
