SMART METER...is it safe?

i want to do a grow...i have a 1000 watt HID digital dimable ballast a 6 inch inline fan/filter combo and a very cool room (cold central AC piped into the vents) and before i buy either a 3x3 or 5x5 tent i wanna know if i should run the light at half power ie- 500 watts or the full thousand...id buy the tent size to fit the proper light...heres my question tho...i live in a duplex....i have one side the neighbor has the other...he is a total pothead i know for a fact...my side is 3 bdrooms and the whole place that is mine is about 1100 sq ft. my question is ...i have a SMART METER...its been here since i moved in one year ago...i have heard a lot of people say that unless you are running a big grow something the size i wanna do is nothing to worry as long as you pay your bill on time...also....i live in TEXAS...in the southern part of the state...i have a good job and a legit life style..i have a landlord who never comes buy and is not nosy at all...and my home is "lived in" i would plan to run the lights during the day so it looks for normal...id really like to do the 1000 watts but im really afraid not so much at the amt...but at the spikes and this looking a lot more unexplainably high the say 500 watts which could be an AC unit....just wondering what everyones thoughts are....i wanna do a vertical sog setup either way so there would very minimal lighting aside from the HID thanks!

I live in a draconian state as well, have had a smart meter for years and no problems. A 1000 watter (what I ran) only adds about $50 a month, which is negligible. Just pay your bill on time.

I personally don't think that 1k will be noticeable, but peace of mind has a high value. With 500w, 2 crops per year, you should be able to grow WAY more stash than you can smoke. There will be a lot less heat to deal with and compensate for with AC. Good luck. -granger

My bill breaks down to about $10 per 100 watts each month, based on a 12/12 cycle. The way I understand it from friends that have much larger grows than mine is pay your bill on time and they will be happy to take your money. Texas is probably differnt. If your worried test the waters with a setup like Granger2 suggested tell your comfort level is higher. My electric space heater runs 1500 watts for comparison.

there in business to sell electricity period.like they say pay your bill/no worries.everyone that I know that has been arrested for growing due to the power company alerting police (2)BUT that was because they were both stealing electricity circumventing the meter.most places that's a lot more serious charge then growing.

been on a smart meter for two years now while running 8 600watters and no issues...should be safe unless the power co is ran by the local gov...

so i decided to do 1000 watts! ordering 5x5 tent now...dont think that plus fan would be too much on my 20 amp circuit....what im just nervous about is "texas's warrentless surveilance program" that i read about in an article about smart meters...would 1000 watts put me on the radar...i cant well ask the power co. if they are in bed with the leo...but how do i know...if im gtg....im just nervous being in TX!

1000 watts aint shit...your ac draws more than that... that being said smart meter can track cycles ...keep your security tight and there shouldn't be any issues...

microwaves are 1000 watts...heaters are 1500 to 1800 watts..i think if they saw 10 times that on a schedule they might take note...DJXX

Like others have said it's not bad at all. Run two bulbs on different times in different rooms to mask the scheduled start and stops.

Run 1KW on a flip flop. literally no 12/12 signature.

Really.. 1kw is not alot of power when you think about it, My place down south I get killed on the AC. The bill is bigger than a 2kw grow running 24/7. But then again, things are different down there.
