under this set up how big would I want my plants

I have 1/2 run with indoor lights as I just stuck them outside to help lower cost. Didn't have spot for them when I started. I don't have knowledge or experience to know how much penetration my lamp gives good light. I'd like to know that so I can plan canopy around it. So how much of my canopy would I want to use for as not to under or over veg. as in a a sense scrog or sog or a defoliar stripping

type grow with little shading ie. Canopy density.
Dense sea of green = how much penetration to shoot for with 600 gavita pro and lep? 2foot?
Open canopy that went through leaf stripping regimens to train growth, nice open canopy, how much penetration would you shoot for.

a 600w will penetrate but you might have to get extra cooling to get the light a little closer, if you are doing a scrog you dont really need much penetration though since your canopy should be close to one smooth level.

What about if I am growing compact plants under heavy deleafing regiment how far do you want to develop buds into canopy? 5ft from bulb? IM guessing I will end up using this thing at 30 inches. Leaves 30 inches into canopy. Am I on target at 5 ft from bulb for bud growth? So I should plan on developing plants to 36 inches and try and produce popcorn bud into nice bugs? Understand mymy question?

ideally you want to run them as close as you can without burning the plant from either heat or too much exposure. How close you can run it to your canopy will depend entirely on your setup and how much heat it is putting off. 18 inches is a good start point to adjust from.

How tall your plants will get all depends on your strain and how you are growing, remember all plants will stretch when you flip the light cycle, so you have to account for that too. Topping your plants at 36 inches may get you some plants that end up at 60 inches, or 45 inches depending on what you are running and how.

There is no answer... strain dependant.... u gotta do it and learn ypur strain.. what you running? I have a super lemon haze og that will make bud on the bottoms where there is no direct light. Im talking decent buds for no light compared to the wispy buds other strains make in the same conditions. I still lollypop em off just dont need to go that far with her

Top/pinch repetedly to keep your plants as short as possible. Flip to 12/12 as soon as canopy is dense enough to cover your floor space. Good luck. -granger
