Is there any way to remove THC leaving CBD behind in an extract...
Perhaps use their different boiling points against them...

Basically can one take a high cbd/low thc extract and remove EVEN more of the THC..

You're better off starting with low THC/high CBD material. There are really only two ways you could go about it: fractional distillation, and POSSIBLY some form of chromatography.

Isn't there CBD in male plants, but not thc? Couldn't you just extract from male plants?

Don't quote me, just what I have heard. Just spitballing here

Hemp is! I do know a man that made some of his oil with hemp and had it tested. However, there is no documentation or evidence that is conclusive that we 'don't' need some of the thc. IMHO, I believe a little thc is important.

However, the best source on this subject is Graywolf; he'll probably be along. If not, contact him, here at IC or at a google..Skunk Pharma in Oregon. Whatever you are doing, it appears you are trying to make some medication to help someone....Good Luck and Bless you for trying to help these people! jpt

CBD is just little bit more polar than THC due to the extra hydroxyl group down at the [5?] position.........I imagine that a lot of people who recrystallize CBD are washing/precipitating with nonpolar solvents and if done right, probably happen to wash away the minimal THC in the process.

You could also run proper column chromatography, again taking advantage of polarities. Start with a highly nonpolar mobile phase and a polar stationary phase, elute THC first, CBD afterwards....may need to increase polarity of solvent stream during the run to help elute more polar compounds (to whatever extent desired)

CBD works better with THC, straight CBD has a limited curve of effectiveness. Not so effective in lower doses, decent at the right dose, no increase in effectiveness with additional CBD. Adding THC allows it to work in a linear fashion with the dosage. Little bit works a little, lotta bit works a lot. Is there a specific reason you want to remove THC? Perhaps you're having to work with the wrong strain or something? Are terpenes valuable to you, since they'll most likely be destroyed in any successful process.

Interesting. What have you found to be a good ratio of cbd to thc? I can concur from my own limited testing, that cbd alone is less effective. I made shatter from high cbd flowers (MedTree Richness) and for several days vaped this all day. I definitely felt good, but it had limited pain and other effects, despite inhaling large quantities, like you said, more does not help at some point. My 100% (maybe 95% with 5% thc) cbd vape is far more effective if I am already "high" from THC. If I vape cbd at the end of a long day of THC, it really knocks me down and has max effect.

Chromatography will strip THC. The hard part is doing it at scale and with reasonable yields.

I can currently remove THC from about 150kg of distillate/week with a ~85% yield. I'm sorry but unfortunately I can't share the specific equipment or processes currently, I only offer it as a toll service.

Or you could just make isolate, that will be THC free obviously. But some people want THC free distillate and pay more for it than they pay for isolate.

I've read around 3-5% is the minimum for activating CBD. I've been told the cut of Canna-Tsu I have is a little over 20% CBD and around 8-9% THC. Personally, it's a bit too much CBD for me as an "exclusive" strain to medicate with. My life enjoyment goes a bit flat without additional THC from time to time. lol

Nice. I am talking about mixing shatter from high cbd flowers with shatter from high thc ones. Do you think 90% THC/10% CBD or 80:20 would be a better use (as not to waste) of cbd versus 50:50 or more?

can you elaborate, what's is isolate in this context?

In the CBD industry, isolate refers to 99%+ pure crystalline CBD. Essentially extract hemp, winterize to increase purity, distill to increase purity, crystalize, then recrystallize until 99%+ CBD 'isolate' is obtained.

Those are the most common basic purification techniques used to make isolate.

Given the opportunity, I would test each ratio for about a week each. The issue with testing is the CBD takes a while to wear off, so the next week is being affected by the previous week.

Please post any results you come up with. :)
