tailoring soil nutrient regitments

Okay so hello nutes and fertz

I am calwax, I'm not new here, just not a big poster.

My question to the experts.

I have a 55 gallon res with a float valve to regulate from overflow about 3 inches from the top.

1.I dont know how many "gallons" to estimate it at.

Now I was gifted many different large quantitys of nutirents. But more or less the items I have are.

*Rock nutirents full line(grow, bloom, Supercharge, rsn8, lightabsorber)
*CaliMagic
*Aptus Fasillator
*Aptus Startboost
*Sea Green
*Ph up/down
*ro filter
*Ph/ec meter from bluelab

I am about day 4 of flower.

the first two weeks of feed going by rocks suggested values.

i've never tailored a nute program before. And at this point I'm not the best at reading whats wrong with my babies.

RO water base
first i add fasillator 3ml:1gal and wait like ten minutes
thenCalimagic ml1:1gal
bloom 8ml:1gal
supercharge 4ml:1gal
Ph to 5.8 or try to at least i think i may need new probe.
So far I have been mixing my "feed" for the res at 550-580ppm

2. Should I be increasing a value on one of these ?

3. also when i do i water i only use RO base caliMagic and fasillitor in the previous values.

4.when i foliar feed I add calimagic to the Ro base before adding nutes, is this appropriate?

Hopefully someone can point me in the right direction:tiphat:

thanks nutesfertz

1. If the rez is a standard water barrel/drum then it should be about 34-35 inches tall. 3 inches would be about 9% of the barrel. 91% of 55 gallons is 50.05 gallons. So I'd just call it 50 gallons.

2. PPM is a really difficult way to communicate nutrient strength. The reason for this is that PPM or TDS are conversions from the EC of the solution. Different meters use different conversions to turn their EC reading into PPMs. But, one way or another you're probably south of 1.2EC and that does seem on the lower end of the spectrum for plants in flowering. Now there are variables here, DWC versus Coco. Or CO2 enrichment, plant size, environment variables, and genetics can all play a role in the appropriate feed level. From afar, with limited information, I cannot say that you should definitely feed more. But you are on the lower end of the spectrum of what most people feed, so you can take that information and digest it as you see best for your space.

3. Not sure what the question is, but your CaliMagic level does seem low. I'd step that up to at least 2.5ml/gallon in RO water.

4. That's fine for foliar, but you might not need it every time. I think flowering foliar programs best deliver Magnesium and Sulfur to the plant. Calcium seems to precipitate for myself and I get a lot of salty bicarbonate residue on the leafs. Including a surfactant, or wetting agent, with your foliar spray is CRUCIAL (Ivory dish soap or Coco Wet are great).

thank you snow for all the info!

as of yesterday i had a lot of crispy leaves and overall yellowing on new growth on a couple of the girls.

my consultant says its because i mixed up a batch of sea green/calmag and sprayed it while the lights were on.
he told me I'm thinking too much.:whiteflag:

he said it looked like shit but not to feel bad because it can still bounce back being the start of week two on thursday.

I don't think there was anything wrong with the schedule i was feeding it, but the ppms seemed really low compared to the suggested box ppms, but i guess it may have been for dwc.

I feel like a pretty shitty grower at this point for overloving them and feeling like i know better when I have a consultant, I dont know why i feel like me doing little bits of research makes me more knowledgeable then him.
He just doesnt feed too much or too often if at all.

Maybe I need to set my ego aside and learn as its taught. I just feel the thirst to understand what I'm doing. I want to understand what the plant needs and when it needs it, not just be a garden attendant to my own garden,

As of now he hadnt been there in a week, but he says i'm not aloud to mix nutes without calling him anymore for approval of whats going on. At least he cares about the garden and is willing to put it the extra attention to help it succeed. but i feel a little stripped.

It's all gravy buddy!

I think that most of us come into this hobby with a lot of excitement and exuberance. It takes time to dial back that energy and to realize that plants grow very, very, slowly. When I started growing I was unemployed. All I did was read and read and grow and baby my plants. It was like I expected them to look different every time I walked in the grow room (like 10 times a day, lol). You'll get it figured out in time but I think you already see it in your consultant - he's mellow because he has learned the patience this hobby requires. Great that you have a mentor who really cares!

Foliar feeding during peak lights on is tough. And that Sea Green is no joke! Lesson learned though. In the grand scheme of things this is the time to learn - it won't be your last grow, you know, so now you know first hand what happens when you do that.
