As some of you know, our house burned down on the 12th of this month. My girlfriend had just picked me up from the airport and my neighbor called and told us our house was on fire. By the time we got home the house was gone and the fire was out. We lost everything including our two dogs that were in the house. Life has been a bit of a roller coaster since then. We have been blessed with help and support from lots of people and organizations. Right now we are staying at a hotel, Tomorrow we are going down to San Francisco for 10 days because a friend is going to be out of state and offered us to be able to stay at his place for free.
The property was a rent to own agreement and we fulfilled the rental portion and hadn't signed the title because in the weeks leading up to the fire we had found out that we were lied to about liens against the property and it was becoming a headache; that paired with the heartache of losing the dogs and everything else has led us to make the decision to just walk away from the property and start over. Ideally we will be putting a down payment on another place to buy but if we need to we will rent. So right now we are just looking for a place to live and start over and try to get in the ground in time for full season plants.
This has been a devastating blow that I still find kind of hard to digest. The only thing to do is go forward one day at a time. Hopefully sooner than later this will turn into a grow diary instead of just a heartbreaking story.
I want to thank the icmag community also. We have already gotten some help from some members that I hadn't met before this happened. I am truly humbled by the generosity of others.
