Jars stay at 64% Rh forever, Now what?

Hello ICMag members,

So I cut and dried my marijuana properly and placed them into jars with a Caliber 3 meter. For the last 3 days the Rh has not changed at all. Is this normal? should I open the jars and let air in?
I heard somewhere that opening the jars and letting air in actually helps the marijuana cure better because of something about fresh air and chlorophyll break down/moisture balance. I just can't remeber where I read that.

If someone can help me and explain what is going on that would be great. Do i just let it sit at 64%Rh forever, or do i have to open the jars every now and then? But if so, wouldn't that reset the curing process by opening the jars?? I'm lost as you can see and any help would be appreciated.

Thank you all!

Yes open the jars and let them be for about 15 minutes. It's called burping.
If the rh in the jar was low when you put it in and rose after closing there is still some moisture in the buds. Or the humidity in your room was high at time of placing the lid on. You don't want it to just sit there as a higher humidity in the jar could cause mold issues. You want the buds dry but not overly moist or overly dry. But understand that some places in the world you can only reach a certain level of dryness.

there are countless curing threads and methods
every plant is going to be somewhat different
eventually you will be able to squeeze a bud and know what the rh would be if you jarred it
before you jar them you want them to be somewhat crisp on the outside without much noticeable moisture inside.
even when it feels like there isn't any moisture inside there is usually a lot that will sweat out in the jard
it works best for me to put them in paper bags for 1-2 days after removing the stems
put them in the bag and fold the paper bags
if the buds are moist in a couple of hours just leave the bag open until the outside feels dry and then close the bag again
once they don't seem to get moist again you put them into your jars or turkey bags
turkey bags work better for me
if you happen to jar too soon you can sometimes lock in that moist smell/flavor, but the bags seem to allow some of that to exhaust
anyhow, after being jarred or bagged you will want to check them for moisture
if they don't get moist after being sealed in the bag/jar you are ready to cure
for the first week you will want to burp fairly often
leaving the jars open for too long doesn't work for me, atleast not in my climate controlled dry room. maybe other climates are better for it
the jars are usually just burped for a few minutes if they're around the 55-60 mark.
If they are above 60, leaving them open in a room that is 60% isn't really going to lower the RH of the jar, but the marijane will be exposed to extra oxegen and start to degrade.
my best advice is to not count on curing to remove excess moisture. that's what drying is for
if you want them less than 64% you should really be jarring them much dryer because the rh will rise a few % overtime if you didn't over dry them
the dryer they are when I seal them, the stickier they seem to be after a cure(providing they weren't overdried - below 55%)

62% is the optimal RH for storing cannabis. Everytime you take a nug you will be burping it. It will dry more with time. Let it cure. You're good. Then when it drops below 55% at which point it stops curing, i toss a boveda pak in.

Thank you all for the answers!!
So burping it for about 15 minutes a day should be fine then. My room is usually in around 58%Rh on average Thanks resinryder, 10ftganga, mensabarbie, and mojave green. You've all answer my questions piece by piece. :D
I fully agree with you mensabarbie about taking nugs out and it slowly drying because of it. I do it all the time haha. But i try to take out enough or the day. So I'm doing about 1 or 2 "pops" a day. I haven't been able to hold enough for it to go down to 55%Rh. Its usually gone by 60% :p
Thanks again ladies and gentlemen. I learn something new everyday :)

So they say, but I humbly disagree. I have been doing testing with the boveda 62 and 59. The 62 left sealed up creates bud that is way too wet. The 59 is better but still on the wet side if you ask me but totally acceptable. I'm no scientist but I seem to prefer a storage RH of 55%. 50-60 is the range.
