Wow 60-80 gallons of h20 per day seems like a lot of water usage. I water my mounds every 3-4 days and even then I dont think they're getting close to that amount of water. They've never showed to be too thirsty either, and they're pretty big also. I've mulched my mounds with shredded trees though. They keep the mounds nice and cool and I think they help distribute the water more evenly. I also think they help to provide nutrients to the soil as it breaks down, but that may be causing me a slough of other issues in the future. My first guess is that it may be throwing my potassium levels out of wack, causing a Mg lockout in some. A true soil test will confirm whats going on.

Anyways, I'll be here awaiting for the pros to tell me how crazy I am.

I have temps now from 92 to 96, but my humidity is around 60%...
60-80 gallons a day sounds like a LOT, but I'm not familliar with his conditions...
I have bushes 6 to 8 ft tall and 5 to 6 feet wide, and I too, give them about 6 to 10 gallons of water apiece, every 3 days ....
But I use lots of leaf mold mulch on top of rich, loamy soil in the holes...

Your grow is so beautiful and ecologically sound. Planting your Ganja trees in dry riverbeds or "washes", where the runoff naturally flows, is akin to the ancient method uses by the Hopi tribe and their clan ancestors.

The Hopis would plant their corn, squash, and beans in the dry runoff washes where, when the rains came, it would germinate their deeply-buried seeds.....and only then when their survival was more realistic.

The Hopis planted their seeds deep enough, 8-10" I am told, that it took the first decent thunderstorm runoff event of the summer to sink in deep enough to set those seeds to growing. Seeds planted incorrectly at 3-6" would germ after a light-medium runoff event and, with no deeper water reserve to access by sinking roots deeper, they would shrivel and die unless they were fortunate enough to make it to the next, more meaningful rain.

Watering daily or every few days is totally locked in with your geographic location, micro-climate and then your personal growing habits. Everything I do for the most part is in either 300 gallon dummies or 300 gallon beds held together w/ burlap and bovine fencing. So, for example this year 90% of everything was transplanted May 28/29 or June 1/2. Came out of 2, 3 or 5 gallon dumb pots. I go by the "rule" of 10% of your soil volume is the LEAST you should be giving them once in peak veg and quite possibly much more during bloom. For the first month and a week it started with 5 gallons every other day and progressed to almost 30 gallons every other day, and then BOOM! when July hit ith it's heat I started hitting them every day at least 30 and lots of days more and sometimes I get crazy and water early morning and night, so DOUBLE! That's 60. I feel like building that root system and letting them stretch that first month and form a root system large enough, that when that first wave of super hot 100 degree plus DRY heat they need, want and are physically able to uptake that water and it only shows in the crazy growth you see when your shit is tight and dialed and you've got access to the water.

If not, every other day schedules will work, of course. But, this plant IME fucking loves some drank. I think it's the most important thing one needs to do in order to have "big" plants.

I went 2 weeks between my last watering. High humidity and constant rain has its perks. They were still moist yesterday before watering. I like to water once a week. 40 to 50 gal per plant. Sometimes twice a week if they need it. I can't imagine watering daily that is some serious work if it's not irrigated.

That's what I've been saying for awhile. Most of my friends here don't have a greenhouse so you're one up on most growers. Your plants are looking nice!

heard some bad news today…so just a heads up for any butte or mendo growers.

first off, in butte BCSO is doing compliance checks on any properties that dont have a permitted structure. a friend of a friend got hit this morning even though he is under 99 plants….sheriff gave him 36 hours to chop everything down, no charges filed afaik. in order to have permitted building you need a septic and everything, so just a heads up! good to know they at least give you 3 days and dont file any charges right away….also i learned that they usually dont have search warrants for compliance checks, so they are not allowed to go inside your structures if you have any.

second, need some advice from any Mendo people on here. another friend was hit in laytown a few days ago, he had 40 plants not too big sized, 25 big ones and then a small garden in the back with some stragglers. anyways he was fully scripted and everything, but they chopped down his whole garden! i thought maybe they would at least let him keep the allowed 25….any Mendo people know if this is standard protocol for compliance checks out there because I'm not aware of it.

rough week for some folks, the rest of us gotta count our blessings and hope for the best. we need to bring that NorCal Intel thread back for news like this.

In mendo if your over they cut them all and fine you 50$ per plant plus 2 yrs informal probation is what some of my friends and neighbors have had. I got lucky because nobody was there and it was more like a we don't want you here anymore type thing. 40 is no big deal especially that part of the county, he should replant right away, every day you wait is lost yield.

Edit just re read it was probly closer to 99, still ok imo a good friend of mine got hit with 225 last year, still harvested 100 units after the fact.

freedom grower that strict ordinance they tried in butte got reversed by the referendum, basically it goes to 2013 guidelines until november. so that means certain parcels get higher plant count limits, i seriously got lucky when i came up here because my property was able to abide by all the guidelines before they ever came out. my parcel is .09 over the higher threshold so i got lucky otherwise i would have to do less plants.

so in butte they are going after grows with the "no permitted building" rule because there is a lot of guys out there who pulled up trailers to raw acreage and are blowing it out. just a petty piece of law that lets them fuck with certain people.

They have the no permitted building thing here also, got allot of my neighbors with trailers ... Also I was checked as well ... From what they said in the news last year they had enough time to do compliance check and chop plants at 1/4 of the sites they wanted to. It's basically kinda like Russian Roulette with the worse offenders hit first ...

Yeah I heard they got enough signatures last month ...

Thank you! It's not where I want it to be but every day is progress. Btw, I liked that ancient anecdote about the Hopi tribe. Thats a true testament to patience and allowing for the natural order of things to occur. It's also a testament to how far we've come as intelligent beings. We now have the ability to replicate nature and even manipulate it to our advantage. We are no longer at the mercy of petty limitations, although, I can't confidently say that's the case with the larger scheme of things ie. extreme weather changes and such. Not so sure we'll be able to design our way out of what's already likely to hit us without significant setbacks...but I digress...I prefer to follow the natural order of things anyways.

Thanks! I've run a few rounds of AACT soil applications through some less than ideal spray emitters that are set up for each plant, with an overly powerful pump. I try my best to apply slowly so that I don't experience runoff. To adjust the pressure being pushed through the emitters I have several rows of poly pipe set up with ball valves coming off the main manifold. To get the slow emission I want I simply adjust the ball valves. It takes a few tweaks to get it right but it beats hand watering for sure. Also, I believe the mulch I have helps to capture the run off.

@yes4prop215- around here they go by 1 script per property. 25 plants per property. Simple as that any more than 25 plants and you risk what happened to your buddy.
