Punta Rosa Smoke report

Lemongrove, i haven't grown pure Punta roja yet, so I can't say. Last crop was a seed run, and I have been pretty dry for a Few months so hard to recall exactly pheno diffs.

jhhnn, creeper indeed.I crossed it with an og kush (501st) and i wonder how that will change the onset. Glad to hear supporting evidence on the cola taste, others have highlighted pine and menthol, which i also have experienced.

Thanks for the reply swayzak. I'll do some explorations with their seeds. It would be refreshing to find some different tastes from the usual North American and European strains.

Colombian smoke of the era had a much darker & sweeter cloying taste than Mexican, along with a distinctively different smell. The difference was obvious, in the bag or in the pipe.

If you lived nearby,in Colorado, I'd offer a taste test trade to offer my historical perspective, or just to make friends.

My space isn't much, so I've been leery of trying to grow wild assed stretchy sativas. Been considering Mandala's BTB & also Skunk classic from the Dutchmen, see if I can get some of that near magical electric euphoria I remember.

Nice work on your part & excellent reportage, too.

Try looking through the Ace and Cannabiogen selections. They have some indoor friendly pure sativas that might work well for you. BTB looks like a nice strain too although I haven't tried that one one myself just read a lot about it.

I had three packs of these and two packs of ACE Malawi "lost in the mail". But hey shit happens and the options get better every day.

That sucks Bob. Kaiki is a real stand up guy for replacements, but I don't know where you got your seeds. If I was you I would try the mangobiche. Good luck and good growing :)

Jhhn: thanks for the offer :) other side of the world, but maybe one day!

Sorry for double post, just had to comment on this. Yes,cloyingly sweet smell for sure! Just had to say that when I crossed it out with 501st OG, many have an snapple iced tea smell on the stems.

But none of them are electric, I would reserve that for the zamal haze x 501st cross I got. Very low yield, but man, what a high pitch ringer! closest thing to coke I've smoked.

They where from Gypsie. I lost three orders from the Bay/Boo and will never try another one from SB/SB ever again. That was one. The other was SSSDH from CSG, and Sour D IBL from Rez.

The only other time I was ripped was from Rimmeo/Nevil.

Charlie Garcia is as good as it gets though. I am considering just quiting buying seeds all together and just seeing what pops out of what I already have.(Pretty great stash already). But with that said if I make a last order Mangobiche, and Punto Rojo from CBG are top of the list. It just seems like a bad time in the seed industry for the buyer. Lots of pitfalls to avoid and money better spent elsewhere.
