Los Angeles judge halts cannabis farmers market

So they are still trying to stop us, even in California:

LOS ANGELES (AP) -- A Los Angeles judge has issued a temporary restraining order blocking the operation of an outdoor medical marijuana farmers market.

City News Service reports the judge ruled Tuesday after attorneys for the city of Los Angeles asked for the injunction.

The California Heritage Market, operated by the West Coast Collective, opened for business in Boyle Heights over the Fourth of July weekend, attracting big crowds hoping to sample the offerings.

City Attorney Mike Feuer claims it runs afoul of a voter-approved measure limiting the number of dispensaries in the city and is an unauthorized use of the property.

David Welch, an attorney for West Coast Collective, says collective members who grow marijuana are allowed to sell their products to other members.

Completely unsurprised that this was shut down, but I think they have a valid argument about the legality; patient to patient sales should be kosher in California.

Hopefully they get it worked out, I'd love to have a booth at a local "farmer's market".

Funny how it's all good as long as they are getting their cut. Meanwhile, people continue to rot in prison for a benign herb. Still playing politics with people's lives.....sick.....

Unbelievable! I was just there two weekends ago. This makes no sense! I attended the market and there was no violence, no loud music, and no irrationality. This is shocking. I waited in line with a cancer patient who was using marijuana to help with her condition. Her insurance wouldn't cover the cost of her medicine every month, so was looking forward to coming to this market. Damn it this sucks!

I see a lot of tiny shops opening all the time with no fuss, but this one "made the news". Big pharma must be real pleased.
I am real sorry to hear that it got pushed over. We could all use something different and better than what is out there now.

Not really the issue being rec ,it's more of an issue of jealous selfish people which so cal has no shortage of....I've heard from people working the FM that dispensary owners weren't too happy about this growers direct to patients and "possibly "alerted the proper authority. They've had farmers markets up north for years IC member rowdy and good karma growers but like trout said big difference from north and south. Problem with doing it in colorado and there were a few in Washington before the went rec is we live in CA . I'm all for voting for legal rec but it better come with with better options and more freedom than what I'm seeing in those two places bar coded plants, locking people out, etc etc other than law protection it's rec weed now anybody and everybody has been able to get a rec for years.:tiphat:

If the city was getting a bit of that apple it would still be running.

If I still had Cancer I would have a hard time buying my meds like that. It hard to know what your really getting without some tests that I think should be done like for pesticides..I would have to know the person very well to buy from them. That's why I don't use any pesticides.. No need if you don't have any insects.

The problem there is, you have to have a license to sell in Co and Wa--
In Cali, it is covered in 215 that Patients can sell small amounts to each other-- That is why they are going after the building code bullshit-- :tiphat:
