Our Little Dog Spike

Spent this fine weekend doing something I hate to do on my off-time . . . work.

The fence for our doggie yard needed replacing. Two days of monstrous heat, humidity, and sun later, I'm done in. But the puppies like their new fence, they feel very uptown now.

BB, I admire you & your wife. My animals are my babies, always have been. Your love for them shows in the way you make sure they have their little personal things. Yes, that's important to a dog. It makes me smile to meet other people who realize that. It says you care enough to meet their wants in addition to their needs. After leaving the dog show business, I had a mobile shop too for a while. Too much maintenance on the old van. Never had a customer who didn't love their 'crids' ( that would be critter kids :) ). Only people who truly love them go to the measure of having them groomed at home. Sorry to drag this out, but I just wanted to let you know, one animal lover to another, I can tell at a glance they never come last with you. Take heart in knowing Spike had a better life than a lot of peoples kids.
- As a retired photographer, I have to say, AWESOME window light portrait! All your pics are so good! You have a real tallent there! (I think 'they' were blowing smoke when the told you she'd probably be around her mothers size. Bet she gets as big as a golden! :) Setters have such sweet dispositions. Pyrenees are gentle giants, & I guess we all know goldens are a sucker for a hug! Sounds like a winning combination to me!

PS. You did a good job on that fence. It does a pup proud :)

Credit must go where it is due. Most of those photos were taken by Mrs. Blazer. She has a lot of real talents. A very special lady indeed!

Thank you both for your kind words. :tiphat:

This picture shows a couple of things about Cricket:

1. She has grace and class.

2. She is made out of rubber.

Edit - And good aim.

Not sure if there is interest anymore, but here's some recent photos:

This last one should have an explanation. Missy has always acted like Cricket's mama and as such, Cricket must submit to a tongue bath . . . constantly. Missy starts licking and after a while Cricket begins to fidget. Finally enough is enough and she's gets all bad ass and tells Missy "knock it off mom!". Things settle down and Missy goes right back to licking and Cricket just fetches a sigh. She's the cleanest dog you ever saw, lol.

He knew the job was dangerous when he signed up, yah?

No worries, she get too big, he'll rent her out as a shade tree.

Aloha Mr. Moose rancher,

You never fail to please, Mr. Weez!

If she keeps growing, that's ok with me. I love big dogs . . . cleaning up after them, not as much.

Some pics of them laying about:

Missy drags the throw pillows off the couch when she wants to lay on the floor.

Cricket is too big for the missus' knee hole, but . . .

dang!!! that's a huge puppy you got there.......

it's funny when they get so big so young, still thinking that they're lap dogs but far too big. do you guys consider her a puppy anymore???

Oh yeah. She still acts like a puppy for sure.

She's definitely not a lap dog. Hasn't been for quite a while now. She likes getting attention and being petted, but usually doesn't snuggle for long. Not like Missy, who will cuddle forever.

We don't think she's done growing either. She's already noticeably taller than Missy. If she fills out to fit her frame . . . yoiks. Fortunately she already prefers to lay at the bottom of the bed between the missus and me. Plenty of room down there.

Tell you what though, I cleaned the front yard today and man do those dogs poop! Wore my happy ass out picking up after them. I thought about trying to teach them to use the commode, but figured they'd just end up shitting in the tub.
