I grow a pretty good size veg garden every year and I work it myself with no help whatsoever... I wish I knew how to post pics on here... Does it matter what kind of phone I have before anyone could give me any advice on how to post them... I'm not to computer savvy as u can tell... But anyway, my veg garden is 120 ft long and 70 ft wide... In my garden I grow corn, beans, peas, tomatoes, peppers, potatoes, cabbage, carrots, sweet potatoes, broccoli, lettuce, and onions... I grow a variety of 25-30 pepper plant's every year... Every year I grow 2 jalepeno pepper plants and they get about 3-4 ft wide and 4-5 ft tall and put out AT LEAST 150-200 peppers per plant... That's 1st year plant's, not 2nd 3rd 4th etc etc... No soil amendments either... Just some blood, sweat, n tears (hard dam work) and good 'ol soil here n the bluegrass st... Is that ordinary or not... I ask because I always see ppl post'n about soil recipi's... Just seems like A LOT of money is spent on amending your soils... I'd love to post pic's and show you a luscious garden that has been given absolutely nothing but mother nature, and me work'n it, like plow'n, weed'n, hoe'n it etc etc... I'm just trying to learn more n u guy's seem like some cool cats to learn from... Thanks... -F.S

Damm good jalapeno yeild ^ year one wow!

That is the in the ''in the ground'' difference,
bigger, taller, 4-5'' tall bushes that are able to get huge
with cooler soil temps too to make them happy.
My bucket gets hot as hell here in AZ and stunted the growth big time.

Never going to have that in my bucket, so I need to transplant asap!
I know the roots just aren't happy in the buckets. To hot, and smaller tap root, etc.
I know my pepper is root bound, and thats why mine stoped growing at around 3 feet

oh and for photos I load them to a website called Photobucket' and then copy and paste the IMG Code here, hope that helps

What with all the ways I've learned to stunt plant growth I'll definitely be dragging these guys in to finish at the end of season :D

Organic homemade sphagnum based soil. They get mostly water with a bit of tea once in awhile. I've stopped pinching buds on the larger plants, hopefulyl some nice flower shots soon. The 'maters are flowering and budding, the lower nitro in this new mix seems to be doing wonders that way hah.

To my understanding, peppers are indifferent to cycles and veg/flower at the same time, usually producing flower/bud after forking, stress, etc. Mine, are freaking tiny for their age (Jan/Feb plant), they guinea pigged it in my first organic soil mix, which stunted their growth XD

This is my first year on peppers, but lot of Chinense (Scorpion, Bhut, etc.) take from 120-180 days from seed to mature pods and are usually started Dec/Jan/Feb depending on season.

If you start some now, they won't produce much/anything but will give you a huge head start next season.

Typically, all of the super hot peppers such as the Bhuts, the Scorpions and the 7 Pots fall under the variety of the Capsaicin Chinense and have very long growing seasons, sometimes as long as 9-10 months.

The hot to very hot peppers of the Capsaicin Annuum variety have a medium to long growing season that is typically shorter than the super hots and can run from 6 to 8 months depending on the type.

The Capsaicin Baccatuum types are typically fast growers and can produce fruit in less than 6 months.

ok im sorry, im sure this question has already been answered. I had some scorpion and ghost pepper seeds gifted to me. and I have a new cab set up. I want to grow both of these peppers, but really don't know much about them. I mean as far as light schedual goes. im assuming that they will need a long day? say 16 to 18 hours? and how do they do under 24 hrs?

other than that im also assuming a fertile well drained soil mix is ideal? my cab is set up to grow cannabis, but im not in a situation to do so but I want to get something growing in there. I was gifted these seeds by the kitchen manager at a local eatery, and there will be a market for them if I can just get them to produce enough for them to make a few large batches of their signature hot sauce per year. thanks in advance

Fatalii.net and THP are a good place to start reading.

You are right, they can handle a longer day. I don't know how advisable 24hr is, atleast past seed starting, I still notice a nighttime growth spurt.

For soil/nutrients, the only thing to worry about is excess Nitrogen, it can impede flower development. If it claws with cannabis, it will flower drop with peppers. 5 gallon seems to be a standard minimum for atleast one good harvest. Peppers prefer a moist soil, but if you want to crank up the heat after fruit set, water stress increases capsaicin levels.

Pretty newb to peps myself, but I'm a yappity know it all, so anyone else feel free to chime in XD
