I started using Epsom Salt at 1/2 tsp/gal instead of cal/mag and saw my deficiency issues go away in non-precharged Canna Coco.
What ph? You using hg cocos a&b? If so at what strength (mil/gal)? Thanks... having similar issues but can't get canna coco-- the royal gold coco is ammended with coco and tea and I think that's causing me the problems.

I forgot to add that if your in coco, you shouldn't be feeding at a high enough ppm/ec where you would need a product like drip clean

Also, that drip clean, if it does what it says it does, could be releasing salts that are already built up in the coco to begin with. You did state the runoff outta the bag of royal gold was pretty high

Just my 2c

Might not be bad advice... didn't think about the drip clean and the high ec of the coco.

I use Cyco coco with hg cocos

In veg they get, per gallon of RO water

6ml A, 6ml B, 1.1ml roots excel and 2ml of magical. Ppm comes out around 670ish (.5 scale)

In flower they get, per gallon

8ml A, 8ml B and 5ml of hydroplex. Ppm comes out around 850ish

Everything gets ph'd 5.8-6.0

this is just a little peek at what the above mix gives me

that first pic is 27 days flower

the rest are all just veg pics

I like to keep things very basic. ive been through all that using 10 bottles of shit in the past

I get better results using just HG base w/ roots excel than I did when I used their ENTIRE line years back

Plants look good! Maybe a little bit of the paling on the new growth (pic 3 shows it well)... cal mag issue? That's how it starts for me and then progressively gets worse.

I am doing a ppm breakdown of my food schedule. i am using a somewhat modified version of the h&g soil a/b line in sunshine advanced mix #4 with r/o. i replace the amino treatment with pro-tekt and age old’s optimize.

http://sunshineadvanced.com/sunshine-advanced-growing-mix-4-tech-talk
http://www.house-garden.us/wp-content/uploads/2012/11/HGSoilFeedChart.pdf

this is the breakdown i am getting for 1st week veg:

PPM
Week 1 Normal
N P K
Pro-Tekt 0.0 0.0 8.9
Soil A 50.7 0.0 40.4
Soil B 21.1 9.2 64.9
Drip 0.0 8.8 6.1
Roots 5.1 0.0 1.9
Optimize 7.9 0.0 0.0
Multi Zen 0.0 0.0 0.0
Algen 6.3 0.0 1.8
Nitro Boost 59.3 0.0 1.4
N=150.5 P=18.0 K=125.5

the problem i see is that there is hardly an P in the solution. is this right? I know I am loosing some P (.1) from replacing the Amino but that isn’t going to cover the gap. P is way under Mel’s recommendations. i know this may not be a problem for the plants as the mix is 20-9-20. my concern is how long the P from the mix lasts and if the later veg week 3 or maybe even 4 (if i need it) there is still very little P going in. Or the other option is I am doing these calcs incorrectly in which case i would love some feedback on what I am doing wrong.

sorry if this was asked already..

the other HG thread says to PH after adding base nuts, then add additives and NOT to ph after that.

This seems counter to any other nuts mixes I've worked with. Any validity to it?

You put magic green in the rez? Supposed to be used as a foliar spray

didnt mean to grave dig this up, but HG is the shit!

You answered your own question. It is a foliar feed product that works quite well. I think it would be a waste of money to put it in the res.

mgk :tiphat:

im up to 7.5 ml/gallon cocos 1st week of flowering woth 2-3 ft plants. Also using epsoms 1g/gallon and drip clean .4 ml/gallon. I just bought a gallon of calimagic because i was having some problems at 4-5 ml/gallon with yellow leaf tips and chlorosis. I kept going lower with the base thinking I was overfeeding or locking something out, but it wasnt helping. Im up to about 1.6 ec now and they're finally healthy and growing FAST!

H&G coco question

H&G coco question

I already use with good success.
I use RO water and my mix always ends up around 5.8 every time without having to do any adjusting.

The other night i decided to mix a batch up with tap and see how they compared.
I mix 4 gallons at a time.
First I add my silica blast @1tsp/G, then my A, wait the 15 mins. then the B, then wait.
Now my ph is coming in @ 6.7, so I add a small amount of ph down, wait a bit, and test it.
Nothing, didn't budge.
Now normally the smallest amount of ph down goes a long way, so I started small.
I repeated adding and testing a few times only to realize that, no matter how much down I kept adding it would not go lower than around 6.4.

At this point I'm thinking there's way too much ph down in this mix.
I added the last two things to the mix per my usual system so i could test and see where my EC was at.
It came in @ 1.7 my usual mix ends up @ 1.2, and this is still with the incorrect ph.
So much ph down that when I let it sit for a bit I would see a film layer on top.

Well needless to say, I dumped this batch and didn't add it to my res.
My question I guess is
Why can't I get the ph in range with the tap?
Is it only meant for Ro water?

I'm seeing this happen. Specifically inert medium growers are reading all about calmg and supplementing tons of it. Now there's no doubt calcium and magnesium are vital nutrients during bloom but it's almost like people are backing off N only to throw tons of calcium and magnesium to "green" the plants up when they're just throwing the other ratio's off even more.

watch out for your k when in coco as well as the calcium and magnesium.
