heya,

this is my first grow after months pursuing a mysterious problem reported in this thread.

basically leaves would yellow out, develop that papery texture and die once put in flower. after months struggling with this problem, gaiusmarius suggested i could be dealing with offgassing issues.

i looked further into it and it seemed really plausible considering my garage has a sort of stuffy air. so ive sealed part of it with panda plastic and now im running positive pressure inside this chamber.

this is the 1st day in the new flowering room. they look okay sofar.

the setup
flowering chamber is now 120cm x 360cm (roughly 4x12 ft)
left side 400w hps
right side 600w hps
soil+worm castings+amendments+mico etc
9L (2 1/4gal) pots
positive intake passive output

i blow from outside, right now i have positive pressure, meaning that the panda plastic is always puffy, with more air going in than out.

update day 21

heya!

this is how theyre looking at day 21. i had a lil prob with one of the timers so i guess it mightve delayed them for a week or so. they are not looking amazing or anything, but given they wouldnt make it through the 1st week im pretty happy with the result. thanx to @gaiusmarius it really looks like the prob was offgassing issues

cheers,

o2p

:woohoo: very happy for you, i know exactly how you feel the moment when you realize the plants are growing normally. it's like a huge weight is lifted off your shoulders because you know that you solved it. imagine that feeling after wasting2 years on trying to get a grow up and running in a place where the whole floor was poison to the plants, even when covered with pond liner and siliconed in. the air was still poison for the plants.

it's a very strange phenomenon off gassing, just glad you have it sorted now. all i really had to do in the end was add an active air intake ventilator, that way most of the air going to the plants was from outside, nice and fresh and not getting sucked in to the grow from inside where the off gassing source was. the worst thing is that you don't really believe it till you actually see the plants healthy once you solved it. it sounds like a made up problem lol.

yo gaiusmarius :),

man, if i can manage to go through the end of this, i swear im gonna dedicate this harvest to you buddy!

off gassing is a crazy thing indeed! strange thing i couldnt really find much written on the subject... i feel like posting a whole thread on this topic alone after this ordeal is settled.

peas,
