Butane kinda ran straight through the tube

Did my first crack at making bho this afternoon.
A few days ago I froze some older goji bud that's covered in frost
Today I broke it in smaller nugs and packed it in my glass tube. Firm but not tight. I could see a little space between nugs in a couple spots. Balled up some coffe filter and put in the tube before packing the nugs in so it was against the butane hole. Put two coffe filters over the end and clamped them in place with a hose clamp. Put the tip of the butane can in the tube and pressed it down. It ran through an didn't develop any pressure. The stuff dripping in my catch basin was kind of yellow so I know there was some resin but there were still lots of visible trichomes on the nugs. Does it sound like I need to pack it tighter?

What are the dimensions of your tube? If the column is too wide you will not be able to build the necessary pressure.

Are you positive they were full trich heads left and not just the stalks?

Did you use a scope to verify that?

The tube has an ID of 11/16 and is about 10 inches long

I did not check with a scope and I am not positive that there were trich heads... Interesting.

Broke some buds up finer last night and gonna give it another go this morning.

Breaking up won't effect your yield much, it will increase it slightly but usually due to pulling more unwanted materials from broken bud.

Break it down so it fits in your tube, then pack it tight with wooden dowel/spatula handle/whatever tool works. You do not want there to be open channels/space for the butane to flow, you are trying to force it through the bud.

Came out better today
I heated some water on the stove to purge the butane and the oil got pretty thick




I poured everclear in at this stage to winterize and it remained a thick goop. I stirred it up a bunch to get it to dissolve but it stayed pretty thick. Should the everclear dissolve it overnight?

Hot water from the tap works fine... no need to boil water.... stay safe.

If i didnt have or couldnt afford 200 bucks for a 4 cfm pump from harbor freight and a scientific vac dome....... id be sun purging for 20 30 min to get all the tain out.

P.s. ...... walmart has 6x6 or 8x8 glass baking pans that are a lot easyer to scrape for 4 to 6 bucks

to a beginner the leftover stalks look like trichomes. they arent. you can try a test and run it again but it prob wont result in much. best

yup this is why.. there is so much bud going around that's extracted full nugs. and sold cheap .. its going around the north east right now!!!

but .. ya man u wana pack that thing.. and pack it pretty tight.. I pack.. and then suck on the end.. if its too packed ull know.. because u wont be able to suck any air threw.. u want to be able to suck a little bit of air threw.. if u can.. ur good.. put it this way.. a 14inch tube with a 1.25 inch diameter fits 90 grams of nugs grinded up and packed..

but honestly.. it could be the bud.. could be u didn't use enough butane.. could be not packed tight enough.. could be lots of shit.. but if u want.. id get some everclear.. andrun the bud again wih an ethanol wash. and see watcha get..
