I got one in 400 watt. Been using it for about 6 months in the vegging room.
I have mixed feelings about 7000K in vegging. Everything grows slower than with a 4000k CMH.
But it does keep everything short. :chin:

But I am going to start 7 plants into 12/12 with the Ushio 7000k next week to sex them before up transplant.

I had a $40 Ushio 400w 5200k universal metal halide conversion bulb in an HPS magnetic ballast. The 2nd grow it quit working. I had it a couple of years sitting around after i purchased it, before I used it, if that matters. For the price It was worth it I suppose. I don't recommend it, though.

I have had no problems at all with their super HPS bulbs. I highly recommend them.

I got one of those, too. Haven't used ii yet because it's not rated for open fixtures.

I consider it a spare lamp.

If you have Solistek ballast, why not get Solistek bulb? Their bulbs look nice. 4k MH.

Ive used Ushio Hilux MH, and Super HPS, and they're both quality bulbs. Not the very best, but still good bulbs. I used the Hilux MH to keep plants short and compact. Works great on anything even pure sativas. The Super HPS would be used after the plants stretch phase was over. Otherwise it would lead to too much stretch.

So Dave, what do you consider to be the "very best?" Thanks. -granger

If I had the money, Id go for Gavita for my lighting needs. Whazzup here has provided lots of great information regarding the bulbs, and Ive seen that they're becoming more popular and all Ive heard are great reviews about them.
