Whats your rez temp??. I'm not using DWC. I know the basics about it. try to let your ph swing a bit nutrients uptake better at different ph level. At 5.8 your just starting to get P,Mg Let it go up to 5.9-6 from time to time then back down to 5.5 for Mn then back to 5.8. This is a good habit for all types of growing.

What nutrients are you using? 1.4ec? Isn't that a bit hot for dwc? From my own experience you only need half the normal amount due to the high availability of oxygen and no medium.

Temps are good, I only see what your seeing with pests or EC levels. What does the new growth look like? can you take any pictures?? You could try lowering the ec level to 1.2. I use 1-1.3 I never go any higher for any strain keep in mind this is for soil.

Hey purple frostbyte and dabking.it probe lay is too high,to used to coco.im using general hydroponics.im going to lower ec and see if that helps.new growth is green if a little slow

if the new growth is good you should be OK. Are you sure you didn't spill any nutrients solution on those leaves ??

I have grown dwc for last long time. Feel free to ask any other questions.

Your ppm is way to high. Flush for 24 hours with clearex or drip clean. Then start on a much lower solution. It may takes two flushes. Also flush once a week with dwc. Also Aptus facilitator and activator are very good with dwc. It helps the root system uptake more food, and better deal with ph swing.

no Epsom salts Imo until its flushed. I dont know what the normal level of EC is for DWC I use 1.0ec for most of the flowering stage in soil.

how often do you calibrate your meters ?I found out the hard way that most meters including ppm,ec,and tds unless commercial grade come out of adjustment after only 2 to 3 tests.good luck.md

Quick question... What's the point of flushing a dwc?

I mean, roots can kind of leach a little bit, mostly starches and sugars really. After an element becomes part of the plant tissue, running a little water over the roots cannot draw that element out. Plants don't work like that...

Without any media to remove buildup from I am perplexed at the need to flush in a DWC. I mix my nutrients fresh at the start of the week. Then top off with just fresh water and pH balance as the week progresses. At the end of the week I drain the reservoir, and refill it with the full strength nutrients. Never have I had any reason to "flush" in a system like that.

I'm no expert in DWC. I don't think he needs to flush the plants as that doesn't work not even in soil. Unless we feed water for a few days if not a week but that's not very healthy for the plants IMO. When I need to flush I just do the soil or in DWC drain the Rez, lines,Buckets. then make up a new batch at the correct EC, PH levels. That should be good enough.

Your nutrient strength may not be too high. Not to be an ass but the other people helping you didn't consider enough variables to make an informed decision. The first question that I would have asked is how big is your light and plants? How long into your cycle are you as well? I would have also asked you how long has your solution been in the system and what ratio of nutrients are you using and with what additional additives?

What I also would have stated is that your solution is low for my personal liking with the nutrients that you are using. Like Purple Frostbite said, raise your pH to at least 6.0 but make sure you're changing out your nutrient solution every 10 days and adding fresh nutes and water. I don't know why you are flushing your plants. I'd never flush RDWC for any reason unless you're harvesting in a few days. Personally I never like my RDWC systems to go below a pH of 5.8 but I have the best results between 5.9 and 6.2. The ratio that I use for flowering with GH Flora Series is 1 part Micro to 2 parts Bloom. I use no additives at all. I also add Chlorine in the system to protect my roots. As far as nutrient strength, check the PPM every few days. If your PPM (before top off) is higher than the day before or the days before, either you are too high in your nutrients, your solution has become unbalanced and needs to be changed out, or you are starting to have root problems. With 1,000 watt lights, My RDWC systems peak at 2.1 EC during peak flowering with Chemdog Double Diesel. My data clearly shows this to be true in my RDWC threads. If you have smaller lights, then the plants won't be able to handle as many nutrients than 1,000 watters. Collecting the most amount of data of your grows will teach you so much. The more data variables that you add, the more that you will learn and master DWC / RDWC.

Hi snype,I have 6x600 watters over a space of 7ft x7ft but only put four on at one time.the plants are approximately 2.5ft high rigged down with pea netting.they are four weeks in to the flowering cycle.the nutrients get changed every five days and have been using grow micro bloom in the amounts on bottle.have put mineral majic around root base also.we also put Epsom salts in other day, about 10 teaspoons in a 300ltr tank.also sprayed some on leaves about qtr teaspoon to a ltr.on reading your info and your info on other threads we have dumped tank and have filled to the ratio you use.also sourced really good bleach,I think tank ph was probably to low also so have raised to 5.9.thanks again.....

Seems trouble with Ca to me. Can you post some more pictures? Are the younger growth ok and the older bigger leaves damaged? Can you see yellow turning brown spots too?

This was a Ca def in a dwc setup

If you think it could be, try to raise pH to 6,3 - 6,5. If still in veg spray Calcium oxyde on the leaves and keep them wet for at least an hour.
Keep RH high or see VPD chart. If you have some, add calcium oxyde to the solution in the quantity of 0,2 EC on the total. Keep the ec a bit lower too, 1 mS/cm ca. is fine.

If the problem is calcium and you follow my suggestion, you will see healty plants in three days, with no more def. signs.

PS: This kind of problem often happens when the plant is growing fast, but still do not have enough root to balance Ca uptake, needing a more accurate pH range.

Good luck bro
