As my appion gently hums.

I am locating a leak in my bhogart. Its taken awhile but im almost there. Im using an air compressor to find the leak. After charging my compressor, i turn the engine off so i can hear the air leaks. The only sound i can hear is a gentle hum from my appion. When i close the valves on the appion the hum stops.

As i was testing i blew the metal washer out of my vapor filter and it seems like it fits better- there was a leak there and now there isnt.

Anyone know what that hum is?

It's air flowing through the Appion. The inlet/exhaust valves hum slightly if there is gas flowing through the compressor without restriction. Basically the valves pop off their seat and re-seat due to spring pressure and make a bit of noise in the process. Very normal....

Although your leak may be downstream of the compressor. For your leak test setup, what's downstream of the compressor?

Double check the filter/drier. The Catch-all brand will not work with the
appion without that copper crush washer. And the washer will leak if 'crushed' too
many times.

Haha. Its humming when its turned off and compressed air running through it to look for leaks. Im gonna go to airgas and look for a new washer for my vapor filter(which was crushed).

Probly time for a new manifold as well?

I have heard the appion hum when i blasted a can of tane through it to clean it, and then pulled a vacuum. Aside from then, this is the only time i have heard this sound.

Im gonna troubleshoot more now and will update later.

My compressor is plugged into the valve that i use to pull a vacuum on my bhogart, so i guess everything is downstream from the compressor. The reason i think the appion is leaking is because the slow leak stops when i close the appions red and blue valves off. I can hold consistant vacuum on my collection pot and extractor.

Compressor>extractor>appion>(solvent tank(valve closed for test))

Does it still hum with the inlet pressurized and the outlet valve off?
In other words, close the outlet valve to isolate anything downstream. If it's leaking that much it's a big leak...

Its a big leak. I talked to appion and they told me what i need to order to fix it. He said my seals went dry. Luckily there was no residue inside the machine. I told them they should carry ptfe seals for replacements and they are too concerned about the liability to cater to our needs. I told him a reftec was in my future .
