Grinders, What's your preference in spikes?

This is just about manual grinders, not automatic ones because those are basically just blenders.

I've had my grinder for probably close to 10 years now and it's a pretty solid unit. Not made from aluminum and has pyramid spikes.

I've tried some of the other CNC made grinders and I find the spikes don't do as good a job at breaking up the bud unless it's bone dry.

From what I've seen nowadays it's getting harder and harder to find grinders with pyramid spikes, at least locally anyway. Even in some of the "high end" grinders I've seen online they all use the machined spikes.

So what do you guys prefer for your grinders, pyramid spikes or the machined variety?

As you can see from the pic mine is a little beat up from banging it together to empty it out.

as long as it's not plastic

also I prefer them on the smaller side, but, that's another thing if you got one with a screen thing for sifting crystals.

I'd actually like to get a new one, mine is showing it's age, but I can't find anything non-plastic that has the shark tooth/pyramid spikes and the ones that do are excessively tall.

I don't need 7 chambers, the one I have now is just a 3 piece, the bud is ground in the top section, there is a screen separating the bottom and the crystal collects in the bottom. No unscrewing another chamber to dump out the bud or having to grind it multiple times to get the consistency I want because it all stays in the top portion of the grinder.

I got a 4 piece from onedropdesign... it got nail like ones but not sharp...been working great like 10 years or so... I like that the collection part has a screw on cap so you can take the ground weed with ya.... it says novus one one part and contero on the other...it wasn't cheap

The screen on mine is held in with a C clip so it can be removed easily enough if I wanted the buds to pass through into the bottom chamber.

It doesn't actually collect that much kif now though the screen has gotten a little clogged over the years, I've cleaned it off but it's still much too fine to really do anything.

With really crystally buds I can get a fair bit in the bottom after a few runs though and thats kind of like my "I'm all out of weed now, so I have this little pile of kif to give me like 3 amazing tokes."

I have a great little grinder from Kannastör. It magically gathers kif to the bottom to make me feel sensi for lifetimes, and has been with me, travelling around the world and seeinshit for many years now. Originally bought it from a shop called Wonderland in deadend corporate West Palm Biach..

I don't get bud stuck in my pins often ...once in a blue moon a bit will stick in the middle..thats only cause I overloaded it usually

I mean the real skinny narrow pins like the ones on wood grinders and the sweet leaf metal grinders.they just always sucked to me if I was using real sticky buds.brick was just fine, but always had to use a tooth pick get the bud unstuck.oh,well tempus fugit.lol

The ones in your pic are the worst, IME: my first grinder had those, and it was obviously inferior to the other grinders I'd seen used. Unfortunately, it was a gift from a friend with one of those much better grinders, so....

Replaced it w/ a now-ubiquitous CNC diamond pattern; it was as bad as the first one.

Spent a ton o' time on the Amazon peering at poorly-exposed and out-of-focus images of grinder teeth, chose an "Estigoy" - the teeth are "shaped diamonds" (more of em, too), and this thing rips thru anything (stems, whole cloves, cinnamon bark) using normal grip strength.

Saw another design that looked really promising: the cutters, seen from above, were shaped like ' |_| ', and there were again more of them. Sadly, I lost the link & will have to start in on the haystacks once more if I want to find an example.

Meant to say, never found a speck of aluminum shavings w/ this thing, ever; keeping the threads clean & making sure the two threaded pieces actually mate up before tightening is all you need to do.
