Flowering in 4.5"(qt) pots, SOG... How many waterings per day?

smokeyla1

Member
Setup is
64 4.5" (1 quart) pots in V shaped SOG under 1000w in 4' x 4' area
Floranova bloom to EC 1.5 then add floralicious plus @ 1ml per gal and koolbloom @ 1.25ml per gal
28 days flowering

Currently watering once at lights on using 45* drip stakes for about 4-5 minutes on timer. Getting good growth and don't want to F it up but would like to max out potential especially with smaller pots and on top of that I'm not so sure the whole pot is getting soaked through. Also starting to get white roots in top of coco coming up from bottom.

First thing, ease up on the F+, it'll significantly diminish harvest quality if used in excess (up to second week of bloom at very longest).

As far as feeding times, go for at least 3 feedings a day, as many as 5 or 6 times, depending on how vigorous they are. Lower that EC down to about 1.2-1.3 during these general bloom feedings, and keep it under 2.0EC when using koolbloom, and you'll see fantastic growth. Just taper it slowly down towards the end and you shouldn't need much over a week to properly flush them using your method.

Sounds like a lot of love and preparation went into this, best of luck! Pics are always great, too

Why do you say that about floralicious plus? Asking because I've been using GH's feeding chart and says to use it until flush (last 2 weeks without) I'm at 31 days now and need to refill rez today and lasts about a week. Thinking might do floranova to 1.0 and then add just flora bloom to 1.3? Also the koolbloom liquid barely adds any EC...maybe .1-.2 same with F+. Thanks for help and did add another watering cycle yesterday. Do you water at all during lights out?

Nope, no need to water when lights out, they don't really need it. Give 'em enough time after last daily feeding to dry the runoff trays before lights out to avoid high humidity at night.

I use Canna nutes, and i've tried a few of the flora parts. I've seen some great results with the F+, but it contains the same chemical dwarfing agent found in Bushload, a product you can easily search for on icmag for more info on it's effects. Never the less though, i found it useful to use a few times in veg just to keep stretchy strains low, but too long of use and i noticed leaf and eventually flower retardation/mutation. Triple sets of leaves on the same node, twisting flowers, etc...

As far as what you should feed, at least 3 timesa day for great results. Make sure, though, that you see runoff at least one of these daily feedings to prevent future lockouts. Use the flora bloom up to 1.1EC, and add up to 0.3EC of the koolbloom liquid if you plan to use it all the way through. BUT, since you're at a great time for a heavy boost, you could add up to ~0.5EC of koolbloom for the next 7-10 days. Up to you tho..

As far as those roots shooting up, it sounds like they're getting rootbound. To be expected in SOGs. Unless they're long flowering sativas, it shouldn't be a concern. Cover the top up with some cheap coco mat squares to help keep 'em p favorite)rotected, and don't veg too long (about 2 weeks at most for that plant density). If you see any root problems then add some fresh enzyme product, or better yet, keep the coco well-innoculated with beneficials (Oregonism XL

Sorry, damn computers..

The coco mats will keep them protected. And Oregonism XL is my favorite bennie mix at this time. :)

I prefer feeding 2x per day. More than that doesn't seem to improve the final harvest for me. With a newer auto-feed system I have it set to feed right at lights on. Then again at the peak of the day about 6 hours later.

Dude, they look awesome! The brown hairs could be from faster maturation from being the closest to the light. They should add another layer of budlets on those tops over the next couple weeks, little foxtails. No worries, just keep an eye on the whole-plants' pistil colors, and it'll be fine come harvest time.

Thanks for tips, I do have stakes in the top of each pot, also I leave as much of stake up above coco as possible as I find that it just flows around the stake and straight down and out if not.

I've used F+ up until flush in coco, per the GH guide just like smokey and I havnt ever seen an mutations or anything like that. Great quality and good harvests too. I usually get about 4 oz off a 1.5 gallon pot.

Definitely dont wanna over do it, but I feel it's ok to use up until flush for my setup and genetics.

Looking great man!

I use the full gh 3 part with additives in my soil with great results...only weird thing that i have noticed is i do get some sets of twin leaves or leaves totally twisting upside down or in crazy shapes...never knew why. I havent used it in flower yet and im glad i saw this before i did. I'm gonna back off on it totally and see if i get any changes. Thanks for the info! :tiphat:

Oh yes, it can certainly depend on genetics. My indica dominant strains had the least side-effects from F+, and my sativa dom strains did the weirdest mutations. So, if the plant is already short and stout (like your gorgeous Bruce Banner!) it it won't even bother it much. Just my experience

Res was changed to "floranova" bloom up to 1.0 then "flora" bloom to 1.35, cut back on floralicious + adding 15ml to 20 gallons, same with liquid koolbloom. Final EC was 1.45ish and PHed to 5.5.

Those are some happy, healthy, beautiful plants, sir, great job! Lovely frost and purple tips, too..

Thanks and thanks for tips! Hopefully this grow is a successful one as last one turned disastrous from temps hitting 40's over the winter. Yielded about 6-7 ounces under the 1000w
