Seeds harvested have some cracked open a bit??

Hello all,

I just harvested a small plant that was producing some seeds and when i was taking them out i noticed that 60% of them have slightly cracked open??

Does anyone know why this happens?

And is it possible to still store them, or are they useless (other than planting now)?

Thanks. :ying:

If they are cracked open, the aren't going to grow. Is the actual seed shell open?

I don't know why they would do that. Did you have any environmental issues during the grow? How long did you let the seeds develop before harvest?

Did it self pollinate or did you pollinate it with a male?

How cracked? I noticed this on some of my crosses and still got good germ rates , they were just barely cracked though

I pollinated it myself.

I harvested when the seeds looked ready, but then noticed that a lot of them on one plant were slightly cracked, some worse than others with tiny nubs poking out.

The ones with the nubs look like they could be ok to grow now but i didn't make them to grow them now.

I have had a plant that had seeds germinating and starting to grow out of the buds a long time ago but that was because i left them in there for too long.

These ones have only been pollinated about six weeks ago i think.

yeah, i guess. :(

It hasn't been raining either so it must have just been from dew.
