hush's micro LED grow - Sadhu

Looking good, hush. I've been skeptical of LEDs, but it looks like they do the job.

Great cab, by the way!

No actually, I had to look it up. I see what they're doing there, with that technique. I might have to try that out some time myself. Thanks for bringing it to my attention. :tiphat:

I looked this up... pretty neat... i had a similar effect on my last grow... i started the topping and LST'ing very early and basically did what this guy did... not as clean and neat though...

Some of those photos have such a nice, even canopy... hard to scoff at it...

But i bet it increases the veg time significantly...

Hey Hush ,
hows the heat signature of the led compared to a similar wattage bank of cfls?and thanks i learned alot from you here !

It's not even in the same ballpark. The LED is listed as 135w, althought I'm sure it's probably closer to 90w than anything. The CFLs I used to have in here were a total of 92w. And the LED fixture has been cooler, with no evidence of any burning to the leaves at all. CFLs used to make some of the leaves a little crispy.

No more CFLs for me as long as I have LEDs instead.

I've never done the wet weight thing before, so I don't have that. Sorry. But as of tonight the buds are dry enough to finally manicure and jar up. So I will get the final weight tonight.

Okay, final dry weight is 79 grams, or 2.8 ounces. Not bad. I didn't even weigh the larf yet, which is probably another entire ounce. But 2.8 ounces of actual smokable bud works for me. :tiphat:

Very nice work Hush! I've been thinking about trying an LED rig, I think you may have convinced me.

Hush, its been great watching this grow. I think LED is a great replacement for CFL and really gives HPS a run for its money. When weighed with the trade-offs in heat management and energy usage, I think LED comes out slightly ahead, at least for smaller grows, like ours. Some of the true full-spectrum LEDs may do even better, but who has $700+ to fork over on that?!

Great job Hush! If you get around to it, please post some pics of the dried nugs!

I just bought a Solar Flare 220 from California Lightworks, which was close to $500, and it's supposed to be a pretty good one... Be on the lookout for my next 2x2 tent journal. Now that I've whetted my appetite with the cheap LEDs, I'm ready to try doing a quality LED grow. It will be replacing my 400w HPS. I will be growing Kush x NL in there. :dance013:

What's your opinion on the cheaper LED rigs? I saw some of the Apollo stuff on Amazon but there were a lot of complaints about quality and the lights taking a dump after a bit...

I recently bought 2 Apollo 185w UFO lights, and so far they've been working beautifully. There really isn't any slam dunk as far as top quality supplier when it comes to the lower-end LED grow lights.

Well, I haven't had the light for all that long yet, but you can see what it did in this journal. I'm impressed. It's got 45 x 3w diodes, so the theoretical maximum wattage is only 135w, and it probably uses only about 90 of those watts, and I brought in a nice pull from under it. I'll have the final weight by this weekend. It's still being manicured.

But yes, I am super impressed with this cheap Apollo unit, and will probably order more in the future. I can see having shelves and shelves of little micro gardens all lit up by these lights, and pulling in just as much as a 1000. Such a grow room would be nice for people who like doing multiple strains, but still want to "monocrop" per garden... or people who like doing tight scrogs... or people who want to have the most efficient type of "perpetual" harvest.

I'm an LED convert. :D

Okay I'm done manicuring. I had lots more popcorn than I wanted to have, but it just means more oil in the end. I like oil..

Isn't the fan noise very loud?

I was using a small fan than you and it is till very loud for me.

I can't hear it over the 6 inch centrifugal fan that exhausts the entire closet that this tent is in. That's the loud one in my house, and it's the one that removes cat shit smell from the litter boxes, so I'll put up with a little noise.

White noise doesn't bother me. If it wasn't an exhaust fan, I'd be hearing all my computers or aquariums or whatever else is in this house. I don't prefer things to be silent around me, because I have tinnitus anyway.
