looking good so far, lets see how that cheese does for you. interesting trick with the crimping. i have just got back from bending a whole bunch of plants down and threading them through the net as they have stretched so much they are in danger of getting too close to the lights. happened last run and stunted the tops, this time i gave them 1 day of veg in the coco slabs and they are still too tall. tents are not really designed to have tables in them i suppose. mind you my cheese haze and afghan diesel haze are stretchy as hell.

Hi HGO, nice grow pal.
May I ask your preferred choice of coco nutes and additives?

I plan to make the switch to coco but I'm finding all the nutes cumbersome to choose.

Also I'm interested to know your watering method... do you use drippers to top feed? If it's not too much trouble would you be able to post a pics of how you water and collect the run off please.

Many thanks and keep up the good work.

Wait wait wait wait...you are going to give up on the coco? Switch to hydroton? After all this time? Oh me oh my! Hahaha....do you think there is a clear advantage to the 60/40 coco/perlite blend?

HGO,

i looked at those reflectors a while back and i was curious how much heat would be trapped w/o any vent slots or holes.

could you make a 3"-4" dia vent hole on the top of the reflector and then use a larger dia circle made of any solid reflective material offset below the vent hole 1/2" to prevent light from escaping while allowing heat to rise? maybe aide air exchange by adding a computer fan above the vent hole.

peace

Heya Gaius, welcome to the thread man. I mainly use the pliers for supercropping during the first 2 weeks of the clones life because the stem can be very tough to crush with your fingers, if not impossible lol so this way works great for me, when they start stretching the newer growth is not as woody so it's much, much easier to pinch. The dreaded stretch man I hear ya, how long do you train them for? With stretchy sativa dominate strains that want to shoot for the stars I like to supercrop them as soon as possible to get multi-tops right to 14 days flower, it's also a good idea to FIM them a week into flower to help cut down on the stretch. I don't supercrop after 14 days though as to not interfere with bud development. How many plants have you got per light, sounds like you're cramming them in like me lol.

Nothing like a good SOG, if you've got the balls.

Looking forward to seeing this one blossom.

Peace

Thanks man and welcome to the show, plant numbers don't worry me at all, I think I've got accustomed to it lol...if I get busted I quietly do my time but it will never stop me growing our favorite herb : )

Hey hgo,

That's a nice set-up,
Looking forward to seeing the outcome.

Thanks
GA

Welcome GA, thanks for stopping by, how's that Headbanger turning out for ya?

Hey ILI, I think I wrote all of this back to your PM but I use Plant Magic A&B, Canna PK 13/14, Roots Excelurator (up to 14 days flower), Canna Trace Mix, Canna Mono Magnesium, General Hydroponics Ripen, Black Strap Molasses, Silicon, but really you don't need all that, stick with the PM A&B, Roots Excelurator, PK 13/14 to keep it simple and you will be fine, later you can put in additives to see what works best for you although I do recommend using a magnesium supplement especially if you have hard water.

I have open ended drip steaks so I get flow and not drip, run off it pumped out of the grow room to the sewer, I posted my drain setup in an earlier thread, I'll dig up that post for ya.

Wait wait wait wait...you are going to give up on the coco? Switch to hydroton? After all this time? Oh me oh my! Hahaha....do you think there is a clear advantage to the 60/40 coco/perlite blend?

Hey Merka, I'm not giving up on coco but I need to find something that is a little more economical and it's for security as well. I will be upping my grows as time goes on, right now I'm growing 150 plants and by the start of next year it will be near double that, I want to use hydroton because it is reusable. Having to buy 20 bags of coco every 10 weeks gets expensive, transporting and bringing them into a grow house is a big security risk so I'm looking for alternative methods and hydroton seems like the best option. I know that you can reuse coco but I ain't got time for that, hydroton is easier to work with for me.

I threw the perlite in there to help aerate the medium, since I'm flowering at 6" the plants don't have a hell of a lot of time to grow a big root ball how I like them to so I though a lil perlite can't hurt.

Hey Morcheeba, funny you should mention that because I was thinking about doing the exact same thing with a computer fan but the temps over here have dropped a little from the mini heatwave that we had last week, I also turned off a light, upgraded my extraction, and now it's finally sitting at 75-80F lights on....thankfully lol.

Okay time for some updates, firstly I had a mishap with the Star Dawg Tent's timer, it seems that the tent was only receiving 5 hours of light for a few days....how long exactly I have no idea lol DOH....so I have no idea how long into flower they are, I went to flip them and seen the timer all messed up so I'm gonna take a guess and say that they are on day 14 flower.

I have been training them good and they look great, lots of multi-headed plants and only a few look below average so I'm happy.

Here's some pics....

Next up is the Cheese room where I've been having a shit load of heat problems, we hit 90's for a few days and in the mid 80's for a week, it really hurt the plants. In the end I upgraded the extraction to 3 10" filters, passive intake, I had to shut down one of the lights so this is gonna be a 4 tray room instead of my planned 5 which makes me cry at night haha, oh well....if the environment isn't right it needs fixed although we did buy a mini-split air con to help out but since the temps have stabilized we are just gonna keep it boxed up for the next spot but still only 4 lights.

They are growing good now, I flipped them last week, currently on day 3 flower. Some pics....

Last of the updates is just a few pics to show how I've trained the girls, it's the Star Dawg gals in the spotlight. I am aiming for multi-headed plants, 4 plus heads. I'll not be training them anymore because I don't want to hurt the bud development so it's not time to throw up the support netting and let them at it lol.

great update, plants are looking a bit too small now?

yeah i put 20 plants per sq meter, 30 plants per light.

Thanks Gaius, yeah the Star D are a little small for my liking, the timer problem really screwed me up I think they went into flower around 4" instead of 6" but I'm happy enough with them.

The Cheese will grow bigger and less bushy with the 13/11 so I'm happy enough with them :)

Are you growing with 600's or 1kw Gaius, and what kind of returns are you getting per light?

Peace,
HGO

Why not throw a window AC in? IDK what your layout it like, but they're pretty flexible in terms of placement... and cheap.
