I am wondering if anyone has a key to this article. I found this article which got me looking for more info on the subject.

I believe that after 40+ years of smoking, I experienced just such an occurrence. ANy info regarding this subject is appreciated.

This is why it's better to vape or eat/drink it instead. Smoke isn't good for the respitorysystem or the heart for that matter, especially if you smoke (often) everyday.

There may be some positives with smoking MJ on occasion, relieve of high bloodpressure ect, but it all comes down to your chemistry and what kind of bud/line you smoke. And in the end, vaping will do exactly the same as smoking, only without the pressure in the chest/heart/lungs. It's a more free high.

If you got some bud with high levels of THCV, this is known to cause tachycardia and is not that good for people who want to medicate with the erb, or any other, it can freak people out, thinking that their heart is going to explode. This can also be the case if you smoke blunts which contains a lot of carcinogens and other stuff.

Indoor-grown is a little better because in most cases it's "cleaner" than outdoor. But still, it's smoke... Vape for the win!

Thanks for that, Quiet Riot.:thank you: I'll have to dust off the Volcano I guess. No blunts here, but I do roll some healthy fatties.

I had an episode of syncope while at a poker night with my buddies, most of whom are Doctors, many of them tokers too. Because the incident occurred at the home of my Primary Care Physician, I was in good hands. Regardless, it was a signal to change my habits.

Some weed does have a dangerous effect for us folks with heart disease, I can not smoke hazes or c99 crosses at all. Luckily most strains do not cause this problem.

Hi. I am 55 yrs old, smoked pot for 40 of them (not heavy) and recently had open heart surgery to replace my aortic valve. My doctor is telling me that to smoke pot now will almost certainly trigger another heart attack. I understand the reasoning (pulse rate and blood pressure), but is it REALLY that LIKELY? I would really like some good objective input.Thanks.

I can not give you medical advice. I assume you are on a beta blocker, which prevents increase in pulse rate and blood pressure. Marijuana also acts as a vasodilator. Cannabis can cause an increase in heart rate and can lead to arrhythmias sometimes. Best bet would be to take your heart meds and your statins, eat healthy, exercise, and enjoy life moderately. I don't think vaporizing marijuana occassionally automatically signals heart attack for you and is much healthier than smoking out of a pipe. That is not to say you won't have another heart attack. Just my two cents for what it's worth.

perhaps cutting out caffiene from your diet will enable you to smoke weed without these problems. Oftentimes, people who are tall and thin have Mitral Valve Prolapse.

Smoking, drinking alcohol and ccaffiene can cause attacks of arrythmia when combined with mitral valve prolapse.

Not that this is the only diagnosis, just something to think about.

I would recommend dumping caffiene from your diet and see if the weed don't quit bothering you at that point.

get well soon.

Thanks so much for the comments folks-greatly appreciated.I am wondering also if a pure indica might be the best choice to try as opposed to some heart racing sativas. Also,I wish good vapourizers wern`t so expensive(Volcano). Anyone know of a bit cheaper knock-off? Thanks again.

My wife tried a strain K2 i grew out from nirvana.
She has been smoking for a long time.
It put her in a state of panic/anxiety that she has never experienced before.
To this day any stress brings on this anxiety.

My cousin had to go see a doctor because his heart was beating so hard, he's in his lower twenties he smokes from dusk to dawn.

If marijuana goes legal, i cant even imagine the amount of side effects they would have to list! You might have to hand people a phone book size pamphlet with all the side effects that could experience. lol

Buzz i would try to smoke the heavy indicas and lay off the caffiene for a while.

Good luck

Hi guys. I am a 29 year old male with somewhat of an obesity problem. I say somewhat because im only 250 pounds. So im not in the best of shapes, but i am far from the morbid obesity point.

I smoke cigarettes as a regular smoker (1 and half pack a week). I also smoke weed 5+ times a day since i am 12 years old. From the age of 12 to 18-20 or so, I havent had much repercussions from smoking weed. Nearing my 20's, I started noticing that my heartbeat was irregular. Myself being paranoid about health, I never saw a doc for it for fear of finding out that my days are numbered. I kept an eye out on this irregular heartbeat and concluded that I suffer from mild cardiac arhythmia.

This year, at the age of 29, in April 2012 I stopped smoking weed completely because I am sick of the effects it has on my life, making me lazy, unmotivated, etc. I also quit smoking cigarettes and replaced it with 28mg/ml flavored nicotine juice for my Ego-C Twist e-cigarette which I vape just as regularly as I did cigarettes. A couple months after stopping cigs and weed.. i started noticing im not getting irregular heartbeats AT ALL anymore. I monitored myself for 2 weeks straight to eliminate the possibility that it was temporary, and I am still doing just fine.

Conclude what you may from this, but I now hold the personal belief that weed does indeed cause heart arhythmia and there isnt a theory or document out there that will change my mind about it.

I am twenty five and have a QT that is weird. I have had tests, but they were inconclusive because I did not follow up. When I smoke some and lay down, I have palpitations. This is funny because I was running a 13:56 for two miles and six miles in ~54:00. They had me on some medication for anxiety AFTER they initially tested a 551 QT interval. They also said no anti-histamines as a sleep-aid, because that can effect the rhythm also.

Start vaping and start eating for your blood type.

Seriously... there's an insignificant number of people that 'should' have heart disease from genetics, the rest is completely due to eating foods that are incompatible with your blood type/genetic background. It's insane that the heart doctors are making bank because of the crappy food supply.

You see those videos of surgeons pulling giant strands of cholesterol from people's arteries? Yeah... a lot of those are O blood types eating diary and other foods they're not supposed to. Your body has to do SOMETHING with the stuff it can't handle properly... no? :)

Seriously... anyone having ANY medical conditions should look into eating for their blood type and removing ALL highly-processed and artificial additives in their foods. Basically back to eating whole foods, prepared yourself.

I can't even begin to list all of the benefits that come along with doing this. Here's an excellent list and website with documentation on the why.

And yes.. vaping certainly helps significantly. :)

Stay Safe! :blowbubbles:

I have this. It happens. Get healthy. The truth is your heart will not palpitate or feel sluggish, but you will still experience tachycardia. Do not lay down or try not to sit, not because it's lazy, its because this will cause arrythmia.

i have been diagnosed with arythmia and am looking into the problem of smoking weed with such a condition. i see here that it vaping is the answer, but is there such a thing as vaping when using weed? i was told from a vape pen dealer that with bud there is always combustion, that you need to use oil or wax. i don't live in a state that sells it, this leaves baking but the times i have eaten it baked, seemed to make my heart race, hard to know the dosage...any thoughts on this

You can still get "racy" from vaping. It's all strain dependent, and the temperature you vape at. Different cannabinoids vaporize @ different temperatures.
