, if one chopps a plant with clear trics, one will have chopped an imature plant, and if one chopps a plant full of amber, plant has been dulled out by overripping, so optimal harvest is when all trichomes are cloudy, and that is verry rare! ... usually when 90% of the plant has cloudy trichomes, 10% has already past maturing point, so a bit of amber is a good indication of proper harvest. not to mention that when trics go amber, THC oxidises into THCV CBN, and other cannabinnoids.

In short though I would say in my case I rarely see frosty trichomes on Ace sativas no matter how long they grow. They turn clearish amber when they are way overgone and the trichomes are all withered looking and bent over / shrunk. Way beyond a good harvest point.

I think the best way is sample early and often and keep the samples separate and try them after curing and at least a month of storage to get a better idea of what is best for you.

In every strain when the pistils are all dead I note always a very dull cloudy headed uninspiring high that only gets worse on long term storage.,

I asked because other seed vendors are often, uhh, over-optimistic wrt finishing times. They can say 9 weeks, when it turns out to be more like 11 to get the best results. It's a marketing thing. Glad to hear that Ace does business otherwise.

Dunno about led's, but I think that strong lighting hastens finishing times, particularly if there's enough blue in the spectrum.

Funny you should mention, I have had the exact same experience. I went 9 weeks with Bangi Haze, but I let it get very ripe. It did not ruin the high at all, but I also noticed that I did not find it racy either. All the other strains were at least 3 weeks faster than I expected.

I grow under a combo of HPS and MH, so there is a good portion of blue spectrum.

I'm doing Bangi Haze again, this time outside. Fine quality herb. Please post your pictures when they start growing. I love to see how they look when others grow them, and to see if you find phenotypes that I am also seeing. I'm doing NepalJam as well. Thanks Dubi! I'm starting with 7 all together, but I'll only plant 4 into the ground.

The only thing missing was some fuego/energy.
The African genetics certainly take care of that in the Bangi Haze.

I think you got it right. The Bangi Haze has excellent energy without being racy. I let it get very ripe. It may be racy at an earlier harvest. Green Haze should have energy to contribute. I'm not sure the Nepalese is the part that makes it not so energetic. I've never grown that one pure.

I grew a Jamaican that looked very much like the Jamaican Blue Mountain. It had a great feel to the high. I would not call it energetic, but it did have a floaty feel to it, no couch-lock, and a positive vibe. I let it go 9 weeks the first time. I tried going 12 weeks in my next grow, because it continued to push out flushes of pistils. In my opinion, it did not get stronger, but the positive vibe get lost and it felt a little weird, like taking a muscle relaxer or something. It gave me the blahs. I was just re-reading the NepalJam thread, and someone posted that Jamaican Blue Mountain was the kind of strain that you could harvest a few weeks early and it would not ruin it. They suggested going full term because the buds got so much bigger. Perhaps you experienced NepalJam with the same effects as I did with the Blue Mountain look alike. I'll likely have to harvest early anyway, depending on the weather. I'm building a hillbilly greenhouse over the grow, just in case.

I just spent the last few hours preparing almost two of the four holes I need. Jeez, I'm definitely not young anymore. Pheew! I'm beat.

Bangi Haze doesn't seem especially nutrient sensitive to me, but I tend to feed on the light side compared to most.

All my Banghis are out of woods now, 5 of them.Very fast sprouting, very strong growers.

But I'm not so worried, they have plenty of time to grow to be bushes,
had to pinch tops though.

Growing in a greenhouse is magnificent.You really can see how much plants enjoy of cool nights and real sun.
It's so much different than in inside.

Got Peyote purples, Somangos and some indicas and they are bursting.Leaves are big and fat.So healthy....
Wish the summer was 3 monts longer than now....
