i'm speachless, man :respect: i love all phenos, from the denser ones with some purple (btw i don't know about you, but i usually find the more "foxtailed" flowers the best smoke) to the incredibly resin covered lower yelders... in the latters the resin is sick man! yeah great for extractions but i bet they smoke great as well... also your pics are perfect. can i ask you if you use a camera stand or do you take pics with free hand?

Thanks guys!

@ Libeccio, those are all made without any stand (f4/6 - 1\200 with flash)

Growing these CT S1, I noticed a low tendency to make male flowers, those little bananas that usually don't release pollen.
Nothing to really worry about, but the mom they come from didn't and don't show such hermie tendency.
This make me think making S1s is like take out from DNA a lot of characteristics in F1 offspring are not expressed.
Also, I noticed few phenos, quite similar but I was expecting more uniformity.

However I'm satisfied with this strain being a killer smoke and this is the main thing. The fast overall flowering is another good thing. And finally it is a good strain to find a keeper, out of 50 plants I looked at 9 really good keeper, ending with a fast flowering one, covered in resin with a huge production.

For those interested, these S1 will hit the bay in some time.

And some other shots:

are you gonna release some soon?

Sure. This S1 offspring has been made to share this strain with you all, selecting the best mom aka the ''dark'' tonic.
Keep tuned on this thread to know when they will hit the bay.

Now some shots, always ChocoTonic S1 grown in RDWC, harvested after 55 days of 12\12.

Well, making selection out of many seeds means many plants will be trashed...but I don't like throw away plants so I organized a box in perpetual flowering to let the unlucky phenos flower.

I'm using small pots for these clones. 1,4 liters exactly. Often I water from the bottom just pouring the water in the tent. I like their fast metabolism due to the increased watering, however this requires more time usually.

I think they're developing nice flowers even with small pot.

When I made the S1 ChocoTonic almost a year ago, I left in the tent one MK-Ultra (TH-Seeds) clone to get some F1 female seeds I called MK-Tonic. I get enough good looking seeds to investigate further into that genes.

Now I can say this F1 offspring has a very high growth vigour and the smell is superb. It has strong diesel notes and I'll post some picture soon.

Now I have a MK-Ultra mom, selected for the wonderful diesel smell and nice flowers, without the issue of male flowers (I found some on other phenos).
So I decided to make the same cross I did a year ago, but using a ChocoTonic regular male. I'm excited because I know this cross will rock hard.

The MK-Ultra mom, vegged few days and flowering in 6,5 liters, in soil.

Flowers are dense and heavy as the other phenos

Subbed into your beautiful garden.
I am a soil man, but I love to watch a professional.
No matter the technique, it's the grower that makes it work-or not!
Good job my friend.

Thanks one more time bro! You got the point 100%, it's all about the green thumb, nothing special secrets :) Passion and love for this plant do the whole thing.

really interesting about flooding the bottom a the tent and letting them drink  would save me a lot of time watering . what about salt buildup from the lack of runoff?

Nice question

Let's say I already know when it's time to give a light flush, experience play a big role in this.

However, I don't water from the bottom everytime, so I adjust the nutes basing on direct observation and this is the most important thing.

When I think the plants would benefit from a complete change of salts in the medium, I just feed'em with a solution around 1,8 mS/cm (right for my environment) and let the solution flows from the bottom avoiding to remain in contact with it.

Btw, I usually feed'em with organic nutes too, alternating with minerals.

I usually give only water without nutes when watering from the bottom.

Watering only from the bottom is not so good with some mediums and pots, the medium can dry in the upper part of the pot, wasting good space for the roots.

Depending on how much water you give, you can expect a shorter or longer period of time that don't require anymore water for plants.

It is a nice trick to save time, I like it very much and plants too. Give it a try bro :)

I feed these ladies from the bottom from time to time , I was experiencing drying out in the first 1/2 of my medium but once I added the mulch and kept an eye out for erosion they were golden. the only down side I have with this method is when some plants are thirsty and some are moist ....btw nice garden :tiphat:

hope you don't mind the pic in your beautiful thread if so ill remove it :tiphat:

No problem bro and thanks :)

What you said it's true and for me there is the need sometime to hand weight the pots to know who needs more and who needs less.
This requires time.

Having small pots full of roots helps because it's pretty impossible to cause overwatering btw.

Using coco fiber helps too because it's more uniform than soil and when you look at the top and see dark brown, this means there is enough water. If light brown, there probabily is the necessity of water.

thanks for that tip never thought about that and the ones that are still moist could be put at the shallow end of the tubs and in front of the fan to dry those slightly quicker then the rest

Right

Air flow make the difference as light exposure. More airflow and light mean more water consumption ;)

Btw, I use those little pots like this:

picture.php

You can see the bottom is a net. This mean that if you can rise the pot from the floor just an inch or even less, airflow in the medium increases a lot, drying the medium quicker.

It's just to find the right stuff to rise the pots without stopping the airflow, but it's not so difficult, many things can be used to.

Got the point? It's about inventiveness sometime and belive me, it's much easier than move plants from spot to spot to uniform watering. Two seconds and it's done ;)

This summer I'm going to make some new hybrids and most important also a ChocoTonic F2 offspring trying to give the strain a better tendency to the pheno I like more.

I give some more space for the roots some weeks before I need clones. When clones are taken the lower pot is removed if needed and so on, everytime I need clones.

picture.php

I selected this pheno I well know, even because I didn't find anything better in the last batch flowered.

This one is the female F1 clone that will be pollinated, along some others

picture.php

I'll use these two F1 male clones to pollinate and make F2s. I selected the father mainly for its speed to make flowers and for the shape, along with purple traits. Now they're vegging as I want them big and in perfect shape, even if I know those little bastards can pollinate a lot of plants switching them to 12\12 now.
