Edit; Nvm... now its showing up. o_O odd, does this forum not add the sigs to previously posted comments by the user? :O

You're inspiring me to try out a hydro grow!

Yeah, same here. I didn't wanna mess with the complexity, but if I'm gonna get that much more yield under the same light, then why not?

You have a transiberian in soil and one in water, right trypp? Can't wait to see the comparison.

Yeah, I have 1 in soil that is close to harvest, and 3 in the hydro. Ill let you now right now; even in the first weeks of growth I see a major difference in the growth pattern. The hydro isn't stretching as much, and is getting very bushy, although relative heights to time are the sameish, yet these girls have about 2/3rds more growth on them. But I guess it really all comes down to the harvest haha, so we will see when we cross that bridge. :3

Hey GBOGH; nah. Hard is not the proper word for hydro at all. At least not what I am using. It's pretty straight forward. I just keep an eye on the roots and the plants themselves. Cheers

Oh and btw, I added DM Zone to the buckets now. In a week we will see the difference. I am hoping to be impressed :)

Thanks man! Means a lot, and that's why I make the threads; so that people can watch and see if they might want to give it a try, especially new growers. And hopefully all goes well and I will able to report some good progress and yield :) You should check my other one too, might give some good info on autoflowers if you don't already grow them :)

Well everyone, here is day 33 for the Trans siberian hydros, and day 37 for the Strawberry blue. The strawberry blue had a bit of a setback with root rot.... so treating it now, and removing dead roots :/ The cause is fixed though so the issue shouldn't recur. Anyways time for pics!

Trans Siberian plant 1, no longer my mid grower, has been passed up a bit by the runt, plant 3:

Trans Siberian Plant 2, still the strongest grower;

Essentially; me. I was using an organic alternative to lower PH (Vinegar) and it didn't mix well with something. Have GH PH down now, so haven't had any issues anymore, and the new growth on its roots are looking great. Luckily the other 3 didn't get hit. Like i said my fault entirely for kinda cutting corners, but luckily she is a photoperiod plant so she cant recover without much worry about losing growth time

you could try wrapping your buckets with reflective foil tape or mylar. they also make water heater foil insulation to wrap or also bubble wrap works. this would reflect any heat from your lights and should help with water temps which may be what's causing the brown roots.

Well, everything is going much better now. And yeah when I have money I really need another air pump.... the one I have just isn't big enough for 4 stones 4" stones :/

either way, here is an update;

At this point all of the trans siberian gals are looking pretty much identical, short bushy and nice roots going down below now (imo).
I think honestly, the lack of any root promotive nutrient was the biggest contributor to the small roots 10 days ago.

your roots looks great!! dutchmaster zone is an effective sterilizing agent which I and my plants love. the plants have a great structure too!

I was wondering, if the water level in a 20 gal rez was lets say +5 inches away from the bottom of the net pot wouldn't that also help the plant by giving it room to get oxygenated other than the roots that hit the water where the airstone are? And also help keep the water temps down since there's not a lot of water to cool off?

I mean it seems that it would be easier to cool 5 gal's of water than it would be to cool 15 gal's.

Help me out here if I'm wrong I'm a noob, but it seems practical, I can freeze an ice tray who's level is half way high faster than one that's filled to the top. And like in a hempy bucket having a large air pocket seems like its a good thing. Seems like that's the same principle in aeroponics and ebb n flow, heck even in soil... water, drain air out then water again.

Give me some clues as to whether I went left somewhere in all my research.

Thanks,
Raziel819

Yes, ASSUMING you are providing sufficient air stones to saturate the air
