Think the Pearl Jam song, taking it to heart lately. There are flying things coming out of the toilet, flying things biting me as I sit here, flying things coming from my clones and from harvested plants and seemed to be coming from the potatoes I had stored before I planted them. I thought white flys at first, as they did seem white. But lately there are dark ones as well. Not tiny not huge, big enough to be seen that's for sure. They don't seem to be affecting mature/healthy stuff as much if at all, but the clones and dead material there are flocks around. And they don't seem to be responding to sticky paper like they should. Yeah I know they are 1/8 inch drones sent by the CIA or DEA to antagonize or infiltrate me or some damn thing or they bred a superior pest to take my plants out! We all like a good joke but deadly serious here! I tried some old spray I had come to find out it was diazinon, seemed to kill most but the rest came back stronger than ever. Neem seemed to knock them back but again they came back! help! What are they and how can I stop them (seriously I keep itching my face and one keeps flying after that)? I had a huge problem with fungus gnats before, but diatomaceous earth and nematodes were tried simultaneously and one of them worked, so gave up all the serenade and neem sprays and even the sticky traps as I stuck to them more than the bugs, but something is again prevalent in the room. I thank you for all suggestions other than burn everything! :D thanks

I would throw everything in a tent and gas the shit out of it co2. Those mosquito dunks work great to keep them away once you break the cycle. I soak some in water overnight before use. Hope that helps

I can't find insecticidal soap anywhere believe it or not! Got a few dunks left and plenty of those damn sticky traps (mine are brown/tan and pull/twist down out of a cylinder) that I keep getting stuck to more than the bugs! :D Gnatrol sounds promising, for now I got Organicide, was recommended on one of these sites and worked pretty well for me in the past. thanks for the advice, any ideas are always welcome

A couple drops of dishsoap in a gallon will have the same affect as insecticidal soap. I don't think a spray is your answer. Can you seal your room? If so, they make pyrethrum foggers, never used them but have heard good things. There are some nuclear warfare products if you don't mind smoking/eating/breathing poison. How invested are you? If it was me and I diddn't have access to co2 and or a sealed room I would pull it, get my humidity in check so the pots dry faster and use those dunks to pre-treat your medium before planting anything. or not! Hope things work them self out

I don't think a few drops of dish detergent in a gallon of water is anything like insecticidal soap. Insecticidal soap is potassium stearate, I don't think you would wash your hands with a potassium based soap, it would be too caustic. dish soap is sodium based and made to be "gentle on the hands". A few drops in a gallon can help the waters "wetting abilty" to help deliver other ferts or sprays.
I can find it at Lowes.

thanks for the advice! Pics won't help, I never actually see these things ON the plants, just flying up toward the light or vanishing into the cuttings. They must hide underneath the leaves, where it is hard for me to get with sprays with cuttings. It seems the flowering areas and seedlings are not affected, although at least one seedling has brown on the end of one leaf and it is twisted in loops.

well yes it does feel that something is biting me. I am not sure it is whatever is flying around the clones. I now have them among the clones and other areas, although the original source of them, the clones, they seem a lot rarer if not fully gone there. Where the clones are transplanted and trying to veg out there's a few more and in the flowering area fewer still but not all gone. The insectidal soap ready to use spray I got recently seems to have knocked them back considerably despite the fact that I have not effectively been able to spray under the leaves to any great extent but rather just on accident. Hung a few sticky tape things too. The nematodes and diatomaceous earth from the recycled soil are probably still helping some too. Will keep you posted for sure and thankS!
