Colorado Sells $19 Million in Cannabis in March: $1.9 Million Goes to Schools and Cri

So what's the bottom line after sales in Colorado?

"All the naysayers who were against marijuana legalization are eating crow about now. Colorado’s weed sales just keep trending up, and with the sales of legal weed, they are improving their schools and reducing overall crime rates.

Not counting medicinal weed sales, Colorado sold nearly $19 million in their recreational weed market in the month of March, and $1.9 million of that goes straight into government coffers and towards building schools. At this pace, according to PolicyMic, Colorado will make $30 million this year in pot taxes alone.

What’s even more promising is that these numbers are still low estimates, as the recreational and medicinal marijuana markets (coinciding just fine, take note Washington) are likely to keep trending upward. Many say that a figure closer to $60 million in weed tax revenue is a more likely assumption. Medical marijuana is also not as heavily taxes as recreational marijuana, and hopefully it will stay that way.

The cherry on top of this tax-generating cake? Crime rates are also down in Colorado, so while kids are hopefully going to get a better education, the government (idealistically) will spend more money improving infrastructure and other business opportunities for Colorado citizens, and unemployment rates are plummeting. The Colorado police can take a little rest from their duties.

Crime rates in Colorado have dropped by 10.6% while Dunkin Donuts has begun expanding its brand in the state (really). It looks like a really good future for people living in Colorado, or any state that legalizes both medical and recreational marijuana – though it is admittedly too early to tell.
Is it ludicrous to conclude that perhaps happy, smokers of marijuana have no time for violence and expend their energy elsewhere? Probably, but it’s looking more and more like a reality. When you legalize this plant, people have less to be angry about–and less angry people means less crime.

The only draw-back of legalization in Colorado? It’s snowing in May. But only Nancy Grace would attribute that to ganja and not global warming. And whether Nancy and the haters like it or not, more recreational dispensaries are coming to Denver, Boulder, and beyond.

According to Weedmaps, there are currently 97 recreational dispensaries in Colorado, and that number should hit 100 in the next few weeks – likely climbing higher. And higher. And higher."

After reading all the negative propaganda and all the idiotic bullshit, old, establishment transparent lies that some those big rag news outfits like Yahoo news are spouting about CO, it is really good to read a positive piece that is touching on just one of the MANY positive things about legalization.

The CO and WA medical laws and enforcement are entirely different. Good for CO but that has nothing to do with us. It's a false analogy.

Co LEO is not adjusting well either. I get a neighbor calls about my house smelling like flowers and I get undercover dets at my door asking to see my grow and if I refuse there will be problems type of shit! In our state, constitutionally speaking these assholes shouldn't have even been at my door under such speculated activity in my home! Yeah we are making money for schools or whatever the state wants really how it's written. First 40mil to schools I believe. Anyhow, Co Leo needs to chill IMO

So what happens now? Are the pigs coming back? Is it common for Leo to inspect plant numbers in CO? Do you know which "neighbor" it was? So how far away do you have to move to get away from people like this?

It'll be interesting to see how long it takes for the politicians to figure out a way to re-direct that money to their pet projects in the finest tradition of Social Security, the California Lottery, etc, etc....

I am ok. I was way under my plant count as I stated to them at the door. They came into my home and counted my plants. Looked at my paperwork and left. Been a couple months since. Still feel violated. I know which neighbor it was. She is now attempting to rally my neighbors in attempt to get the HOA to discriminate against my CO constitutional rights. I live in a pretty nice neighborhood but not because of my basement grow. I am also much younger than all my neighbors.

I have 4 carbon filters and a pricey uv sterilizer. All my lights are close loop. I have many thousands in ducting work. This particular neighbor lives across the street not even next to me. Our lots are big too.

I need to get 40 acres in the mountains. Foothills aren't far enough away from overly religious die hard hippy haters. I think I'm really nice. My neighbors don't even know me. They may fear Satan has moved into their neighborhood.

I am interested to see how the State starts spending $$$ after the 40mil "education cap" has been met...? Shit I'm interested to see when it affects my children's education costs!

Meh. If they burn the money, we'll still come out ahead.

So the snitching is still going on, even in a "legal" atmosphere? That really sucks!
