Using Cannabis For Pain Management?

Has anyone found any actual studies that support or disprove how CBD's have been known to help with pain? What about any other components of cannabis for that matter?

Just to get you started...

I could literally post hundreds of links like this from legitimate, peer-reviewed sources...

There is no gimmick. It's not just a bunch of stoners looking to get high. It IS medicine.

------

*edit*

All that aside - it's an interesting way that society looks at things. If a housewife is stressed out and anxious, she can go to the doctor and get a prescription for the sole purpose of, "Here, take this, it will make you FEEL BETTER...". and this is called and accepted as medicine...

Now if I want to smoke a joint to FEEL BETTER...please, explain to me then how cannabis is NOT medicine.

It's nothing more than societal perception that affects what is considered an acceptable means of treatment - and has very little to do with the actual benefits (or risks for that matter) of what is being taken...

Perception is a hard thing to change. Proving, scientifically, that cannabis is medicine has been the easy part...

don't know about any study's but my Mrs smokes to ease her leg pains and spasms. she has fybromyalgia and can't sleep and finds the pain unbearable without cannabis. the doctor has had her on many different types and cocktails of pain killers but she swears mj works best.

I suffer from mixed neuropathic pain stemming from PHN coupled with fibromyalgia...

I can tell you first hand using specific strains of cannabis at proper intervals completely removed any need for stress/anxiety and insomnia medications - as well as reduced any opiate usage except maybe once or twice a year during extreme situations. Even then, the amount of pain medication needed to be effective is drastically less than what was previously needed...

My first experience with cannabis was because a doctor suggested it as I became unwilling to live my life in an Rx fog...

Bottom line is not only does it help with pain it helps with living with constant pain. It helps muscle spasms and with combining vaping, tinctures, and tropicals its hard to compare anything to it.

I use medicinal marijuana to help with my arthritis. Marijuana is a known anti-inflammatory and significantly reduces my inflammation which helps with the pain. With medicinal marijuana I am able to do things I wouldn't normally be able to enjoy such as gardening.

SmokinSteveW, could you tell me which strains (or even species-sativa or indica) that you find most useful for arthritis pain? here in this wasteland that I inhabit, it is all "pot" or some made-up name to try & sell the product. arthritis in my shoulders is my biggest (physical) gripe about getting older.

It's hard to say...SMOKE THIS for ______________.

The reality is cannabis affects people differently as a result of our endocannabinoid system. The synergistic effects of the various terpenes and cannabinoids isn't fully understood.

Without having a full chemical assay on what you are smoking, it can be come down to placebo benefits as opposed to being accurate from a pharmacological stand point.

However, there are KNOWN benefits from a handful of the cannabinoids:
