Cleaning Drip Lines With H2O2 Between Runs

Hey guys-

Wasn't really sure where to post this, but seeing as I'm growing in coco decided to give it a shot here...

I run coco DTW with poly flex dripper lines. I just finished a run and am prepping for the next round, so am cleaning the room.

My buddy recommended using h202 for cleaning out the dripper lines, so I picked this up (34%):

I asked him what ratio to use, and he said 4:1 water to h202, then flush with 4x the amount of water after. Read the instructions on the bottle and it said 3ml for every 4 liters (so about 3ml/gal), which would be wayyy less than my buddy recommended. However it also said you should do this every week or something, so I'm guessing that recommendation might just be for maintenance or something?

Does anyone have a recommendation for a good protocol to use with this for cleaning dip lines?

bleach ftw
you can use the h202 in your res all the time.
just add back 2ml per g every couple of days.
bleach can be added to the res at 1ml per 35 g

What are you cleaning? Did you have pathogens or fungus or something in your lines?

Just trying to make sure the lines are free of any crap in them, any salt build up, bacteria, etc. Just preventative maintenance, ya know? I can only imagine after 9 weeks of murky ass floranova bloom running through them there's got to be some nasty gunk in there...

My buddy claims h2o2 is far superior to bleach, dunno if that's true or not. Also the room is sealed, and bleach has a pretty damn potent smell. I was kinda thinking a lot of bleach might have some bad off-gassing type effect in the room? Purely speculation...

Do you think using the h202 on the regular is a good maintenance measure? I was reading somewhere about h2o2 messing with bennis though... might be wrong

small amounts of h202 will kill some benes, but I wouldnt call it sterile.
Most of it will probably kill off whatever it can in the res and the lines before it ever gets to the plants.
I use bleach in the ro tank just to keep shit from getting funky.
Im not worried about it killing off benes at low levels.
The h202 can be used at less than directed rates

I wouldn't use bleach or H2O2 in the rez unless you want a sterile grow. If you want bennies, use H2O2 like you're doing, in between grows. For that purpose I'd use it pretty strong, and let it sit in the lines for about an hour, then flush. The great thing about peroxide is that it quickly degrades into water and oxygen. Bleach will leave residue unless you flush very heavily. Good luck. -granger

I use a quart of 3% hydrogen peroxide found locally at store. 1 quart per 15 gallons water in between runs.

Guys , guys , guys......H&G`s "dripclean" was designed to keep ALL drip equipment free of residual salt buildup @.4 ml per gal , and does it`s job well from many many testimonies over the yrs that it`s been on the market......now....

It was found out accidentally by some old head croppers on the left coast some yrs back , that uppin the dosage to 1 ml per gal COMPLETELY eliminates ALL possibilities of residual salt buildup not only in the drip feed equipment , but the coco medium itself.....IOW...

Win win situation throughout the life of the grow WITHOUT fear of ph goin sideways with stored nutrients in the medium causing imbalances , lockouts , and toxicities/deficiencies guaranteed.....

Shit`s expensive , but yas get whatchas pay for , and a lil goes a loooong way....

Good luck BH , and holler in pm if I can help ......

Peace....DHF....:ying:.....

I think the original poster is referring to sterilizing his drip manifold system after each grow, DHF.

I agree on the between runs stuff.
Sm90 for a few runs then just replace it
Or you could get a peasant to clean shit for you.
When something requires too much work I adjust my strategy

Definitely some good discussion in here guys :smoke out: I'll definitely have to check out drip clean and the other stuff at some point.

But back to the original question... I got this big ass bottle of h2o2 so lookin for a specific recommendation on the dilution ration for sterilizing the equipment right now between my runs. Anyone have experience with this specific situation? Cheers.
