My CFl. budget bud box blooms.

I had a thread in soil grows when I did this wee crop but I thought I might throw one in Micro grows since there is alot of cfl threads in here. I did this box up for about $150. had about 300W of flouros in her (added a couple more towards the end to get at some dark spots) and kept them as close to the plants and specifically the main bud sites as possible. Moved them alot but it was well worth it. I went in somewhat skeptical as it was my first time flowering under cfls but I was pleasantly surprised.

wow that looks like some killer bud! Is the lighting a mixed spectrum? How much yield did you get from each of the plants?

nice job. now you can improve upon your past experience and double the number of plants that you had in there, you might be able to fit more.. good luck

Looking real good :joint:

Strain? Size of containers? Soilmix? Veg time?

Where are all the bottom leaves? Trimmed?

Thanks for your comments folks. The bulbs were mainly 23w walmart specials. 4 for $10. Just a standard household cfl. Not coolwhite though. I packed enough light into the space that I wasn't really too concerned about spectrum. as for heat I think vertical is definitely better with small cfls. as most of the heat is in the base/ballast. The other end can be touched comfortably. If you look closely at the tube the glass is also thicker on the backside reflecting light down and making any kind of a reflector which would trap heat kind of redundant. All I used to cool this was a $20 bathroom fan mounted in the top of the box. It worked great. I think the key to fat dense nugs with flouros is mobility. Moving the lights and the plants as growth requires can make a big difference with such low penetration bulbs. The strains were 3 Mr. Nice x AK47 and 1 purple Jonny x AK47 all from seed. The Mr.nice x AK47 was phenomenal. I have rarely scene such a frosty lady under any conditions let alone a budget box. The smoke was as potent as marijuana ever needs to be. I would kill for a mother of this but sadly the seeds were a one time accident and are all gone. The soil was straight walmart cheap potting soil. 1 gallon square pots(square pots rule). I used Ionic Bloom and was really impressed with this simple to use one part. cheap and worry free. I pruned heavily to keep all the flowering sites as close to the bulbs as possible. the canopy was only about 7-9 inches thick. I think anything in the shade under cfls is just a drain on the good nugs. Only used this box once more to veg my outdoor. Heres some pics of the harvest from the box and one of the sweet outdoor ladies that were vegged in it.

hey man, awesome setup. I really like the outdoor ladies...goes to show that vegging indoor with cfl's will produce monsters just as if they were grown outdoor the whole time. Anyways just a few questions: how long did you veg them for, and when did you start pruning? what type of soil did you purchase? I counted all of your CFL's and if there are 16 that is 368 watts...very good for cfl's rather than hps. thanks for the help! :joint:
