Meanwhile, back in the tent... Day 74... The top buds are the weirdest, funkiest shape I've ever seen!

Well, I just finished flash-drying that bud... Let me go smoke it and I'll report back. :D

:smokeit:

For being picked upwards of a week or 2 early, this is quite nice!

I just packed the bowl about 5 minutes ago, took about 3 full tokes, set the bowl down about 1 minute ago, and I'm already feeling it come on. Not a creeper, which is good. I don't like the creeper effect. I want to feel it as I smoke it! It's still building up as I type this, and typing already seems like a lot of work, so I'm going to go ahead and come back later...

Edit: Oh my god my restless leg thing just went into overdrive. I need to be sitting in front of a drum set right now, with double bass pedals!!

Edit 2: I FUCKING LOVE SATIVAS!!! :greenstars:

Edit 3: Curiosity *may* or may not have killed Schrödinger's cat.

Flavor and aroma don't hang around too well after flash drying, so I can't comment on that other than to say it smelled fantastic before I nuked it. My method is short bursts in the microwave.

I got high as fuck from smoking that premature bud! If it's like this at day 74 I can only imagine what ten more days will do! It comes on fast, and it lasts long. I felt it almost entirely in the head, with little to no body effects, until an hour or more into it. It made me smile and laugh. I had a lot of energy and really should only smoke this stuff prior to engaging in aerobic activities, lol.

Day 79, and the top buds just won't finish! The plants are ripening from the bottom up, which is interesting. Not used to that. But the top buds, at least the ones directly under the light, just won't stop shooting out new pistils!

Quite sativa pheno SSH.
This one was put down around 65 days, I didn´t have that foxtailing. Could be that are made with same cutting SSH Bilbo, selected at the end of the nineties.

Greetings.

All I know about this version of SSH is that Dinafem selfed a Mr. Nice SSH to create it. But yes this is a heavily sativa-leaning pheno right here. My wife just said they look like palm trees, while I was in there cutting a few branches off. She's right! They do!

Anyway, I've begun harvesting today. I'm going to try to harvest in batches, taking the branches on the perimeter down first, then working in toward the middle. For now, I've just cut 2 branches. Forgive me, but I'm all out of pot now, and difficult decisions were made, lol. One of the branches I cut was one of the unfinished tops, and the other branch appears to be further ripened. Here's the unfinished one:

And the more-finished one:

Now that the plants are finishing, and some buds are drying, I should talk about some of the overall impressions I got from this pheno.

Other than during a brief moment in early flowering, there is no haze smell. Nothing spicy or incense-like in any way. The only thing I smell is sweet. No skunk, no hashy, no fruity... Just sweet. Hard to explain. Sort of floral, too. But I can't put my finger on anything detailed at the moment. It's not unique or unfamiliar or anything, but doesn't remind me of the smell of any other strain I can think of that I've come by. Shoving my nose into one of the foxtaily cola buds and inhaling deeply just makes me feel like I'm inhaling a concentrated surge of sweet, sweet oxygen. Like taking the very first breath outside of the womb or something... Just, it feels like breathing in the purest oxygen your lungs have ever felt before. The aroma is subtle yet powerful.

Having only smoked flash-dried samplers so far, I can't comment on the smell or taste of the dried buds yet.

The high is phenomenal so far, even from this flash dried early picked stuff! I can't wait to try the final, final product. It's like tripping, I swear. I feel more like I'm on acid than high from weed. This strain has also demonstrated to me that THIS is what sativas are like. All the hybrids I've had before that I thought were sativas were actually NOT sativas, lol. The only other time I felt this kind of soaring high was back in '96 from some serious Mexican brick weed that happened to come through my area one time, and I forgot all about that until now. So this is what I've been missing out on all this time?!

I am definitely keeping this one around!

Greetings Hush and Friends,

I've lurked this thread a few times over the last months because I found a good old fashion Sativa high in a strain called Bangi Haze. It is euphoric, energetic, and a bit trippy, especially in regards to auditory sensory enhancement. It has Nepalese, Congolese, and Super Silver Haze in it, and I wanted to research about the Super Silver Haze component. I believe both strains are Indica x Sativa hybrids and complete flowering a bit earlier/faster compared to most Sativas, but the high does not feel polluted by typical Indica couch-lock and other effects that often mask the Sativa effects.

Hush - It sounds like you have discovered the high of a Sativa as opposed to the stone of most "modern" strains, and you seem to appreciate it. I'm glad to hear it since Sativa has fallen out of popularity which has made these types of highs so hard to find. I'm going to go back and read this thread in its entirety, but I could not help but post when I sensed your new found Sativa joy.

I hope you don't mind me posting a picture of a Bangi Haze bud since the calyxes seem to look so similar. Remember, I think the Super Silver Haze component of Bangi Haze is relatively minor, but considering the effects and some phenotypical expressions, substantial none the less:

That is the Bangi Haze in the foreground.

If I may offer a bit of advice on the fox-tailing and continual flowering: Next time, when it looks to be about a month left of flowering, reduce the light cycle from 12/12 to 11.5 light and 12.5 dark. Also, reduce fertilizer in general, cut out nitrogen completely, and keep the temperatures down.

Awe heck, don't listen to me. You seem to love the effects when grown just the way that you did. That is all that counts! Nice job.
:tiphat:

Also, I should go back, read, and be informed about what you actually did.

All the Best,

ThaiBliss

Thanks for chiming in ThaiBliss. :tiphat:

No, you are right!!! I am going to do things differently next time I grow this one. First of all I will use a multi-part nutrient so I can cut out the N like you said there. I will experiment more with lengthening the dark period, too. In fact, I did that in this grow, and I don't remember if I said so before now... But yes, when I noticed that the bottom buds, and the top buds that were on the periphery, started ripening while the main buds were still shooting out new pistils, I did change the schedule to 11/13. I think that helped out a lot. I'm also going to try out a technique I picked up from Snype, of dimming the light and possibly raising it as well, to see if that keeps the foxtailing to a minimum.

That Bangi Haze looks awesome, man. I love the way sativas have such obvious, swollen calyxes like that. Some of my SSH buds look like they should have tons of seeds in them, but when you crush a calyx in your fingers, all it does is ooze resin everywhere. I love it! Sativas are so sexy!!!

(By the way, thank you for the rep comment my friend. :))
