so i set up a 250 watt grow box and my landlord said that my power bill doubled and he was going to have the hydro company investigate why the power just i dont know what to do if i should shut down the grow box or not worry about it. i dont want the green team showing up at my house and busting my for 6 plant under a 250 watt i also dont know how the box could double my power bill all i am running is the 250 watt and a fan for carbon filter

tell them you have severe allergies, and you run a dehumidifier and air cleaner. or change out to a led grow lamps if you have the dollars. also make sure all your household lamps are cfl's or led's. also, no one can judge YOUR energy consumtion unless they live in your house. but then again, people look for the signs of high energy use, turd buckets!

ya i did say i was running a dehumidifier but he does not belive it could use that much power he said there is no way that would double the power bill from last year at this time and i was living here then with no light going i was thinking of getting a led but still going to use like minimum 120 to 180 watt to get any descent bud worth while

grab a couple of tower pcs from goodwill or craigslist for $20 and tell him you are getting into pc gaming. mine runs @ 350w x practically 24hrs a day.

ya i was gonna say, 250 watts plus like 33watts for 4inch inline i think, my comp runs 1000watts and my gf and my brother and his gf all have comps in the house..300 watts is nothing better start lookin at the ac or a hot tub or something else that uses alot of power

just think 250 is like less than runnin a floor lamp with 3 100w incandescent bulbs in it. totally undetectable mayb he saw something and now is fishing for info from you.

I totally agree with the above. You are not getting the whole story. Maybe he simply wants an excuse to raise your rent? What ever is going on...you need to lay low. Keep the box operational, but empty, until everything settles down. Then when you can go forward, there won't be a change in electricity usage.

Better safe than sorry on this one.

Yeah, not adding up. 250w is less than half of what my PC pulls. Should be entirely unnoticeable.

I agree with the above two statements. He saw or suspects something and seems to be fishin. There is no way in hell a 250 watt spike would warrant any concern towards the landlord.

My frist thought was that the bitch lady / man next door saw you toting in your gear and ratted you out . Has nothing to do with the power . Also , My the fuck does your landlord know your power details ? A canada thing ?

Blame it on a new larger TV 60" plus. Or say you never ran the AC or clothes dryer last year and using everyday this year. Longer showers this year. Just say your living habits have changed, like you're home more often ect...

Tell him its none of his fucking business you will pay the bill and shut the fuck up you are violating my privacy and disturbing my right to be free in my own home. When you rent that place it has become YOUR home NOT theirs they give up all rights to occupancy and all.

What does your lease say about power consumption?

Just offer to pay the difference, and be polite and assertive.
