KGBeans psychosis bx1 vs UGORG psychosister

Hey,

It's been a quiet start to my time here at IC as I recently had a security scare which led me to shut down my small 2 tent LED soil grow, and also forced me to choose to save 3 mums out of several I had spent some years selecting and keeping..anyway.

Some times these things happen for a reason and this time fate conspired to allow me to do a side by side comparison of these 2 breeder versions of psychosis x blues. There was a limited pre-release of ugorgs psychosis cross and although I have grown and not particularly rated other ugorg offerings (killer skunk, oldtimes) these are 2 clone only types I have wanted to grow myself for a while. As the ugorg seeds were on a limited release I kind of impulse bought them before researching I could get the same strain from our man KGB for two-thirds the price.I was pleasantly surprised when instead of encouraging me to buy his beans instead, and cancel my order with ugorg,he wanted to send me a pack of his version which is the psychosis bx#1 so I could compare the two.He also generously included 5 riri sour d cut x a skunk selection called riri 5.

I was only able to start a few seeds so I selected 2 of each psycho x blues versions for femininity based on the shape and size of the caldera.I also got 2 riri5 wet.

So far there is nothing to choose between the 4 psycho x blues seedlings, they could quite easily have all come from the same pack in terms of their uniformity. The ugorg version is a little taller due to a couple of mms of stretch which relates to their position in relation to the light source more than anything else.

Currently they are under a 250w cfl, being atmospherically controlled by an ecotechnics controller. They are sharing the space with my PK,spacequeen x herijuana and 2 GDP phenol mums. These will be grown on and sexed in the small secret jardin propagator tent, then flowered out as clones in a Wilma style setup on R.O. water and dutch pro nutes.I won't ever rely on a previously unflowered/grown female from seed for headstash, and this is not a reflection on my opinion of either breeders skills or selection processes, but because I have learnt from experience that it is always a good idea to have a couple of staple plants whose growth habits and requirements you are familiar with in any flowering crop.Especially so in a new system which the hydro setup will be as it is erected.

1st pic,all 4 psycho x blues from above,ugorg top 2,kgb bottom 2
2nd pic,UGORGs psychosister
3rd pic,KGBeans psychosis bx1
4th pic,the smallest indoor grow I have ever had! These tiny tents are kind of cool,I am much happier using this than a fullsize tent, the room feels more spacious for a start.

A little update on the 2 breeder versions of two sought after uk types crossed, blues and psychosis.

As far as I can ascertain the psychosis is another plant which hailed from the exodus circle, and is rumoured to be a sensi northern lights 5 x haze selection. The blues or livers is reputedly a skunk#1 selection, although it's not certain. The males in both versions were found in a pack of UGORGs seed version of the blues (which is blues x killerskunk.killerskunk is blues x smellyberry)

anyway, pics.UGORG is on the left,KGBeans on the right...

I always queried the psychosis being nl5haze too,but then again, the only psychosis I have ever smoked has been weed other people have bought as 'psychosis'.It almost smells like a slightly refined blue cheese, with some incense added, this 'psychosis' I've seen going around in batches,it's always the same weed.

I don't think psychosis get any NL5xhaze in it....it's look like a cheese, it grow like a cheese, it smell like a cheese....

According to LLP it came from an expensive pack of dutch seeds, he apparently spoke to one of the guys that found it and passed it to exodus. The guy couldn't remember the strain though.

As herb says, very likely to have afghan x skunk parents (shiva, superskunk, etc)

I don't think it's NL x haze as haze tends to dominate in both flavour and structure, and I don't see or taste haze.

Peace

hey nice one Chrondiddle!..i must of missed this thread!lol ..imo ,and as some of you guys have said and i think the same ,id put money on the psychosis cut being an old sensi seed bank shiva skunk or poss super skunk circa 89-92,i grew literally hundreds of both back then.As far as any haze tendancys!?..im not seeing any!..good luck Chron and i hope you find some corkers in there..kgb

I´m running a Psychosis cut and i got the KGbeans ones being worked by a fellow grower.
I´ll be paying him a visit any day soon to see them and take some cuts.
On my very uneducated opinion i can´t see any Haze on it and the Psychosis seems like Cheese on steroids ;)

Apologies for the lack of photographic updates recently, all is well with the plants but my health has been shot.It has ended up meaning I neglected the clones which would have been my nexy flowering crop, took more, which are now rooted but the blues/psychosis are looking a much better prospect for blooming given they already have a root system and a decent amount of above ground growth.I am loathe to rely on an unknown in terms of a plant I haven't previously flowered out as I rely on the product for pain control and general well being,so if I get hay I'm shagged..but I'm going to have faith and repot these plants, give em another week in veg then stick em in bloom.
So far all 4 psycho/blues are still pretty identical. The ugorg plants have a slightly different structure but honestly so far they could be 4 clones, there is no more than a half inch height difference between them and they have the same amount of nodes and internodal spacing is similar if not identical. They all exhibit a typical skunk smell currently.
I will follow up with pics soon,I have a lot of work to do setting up a bloom tent from scratch,I've made life a little difficult for myself by positioning a water-butt which has around 150l of R.O. water in a place which could end up making life awkward but hey-ho.

very uniform...

very uniform...

So I have split my growspace into 2 halves, one half using a cobbled together Wilma style setup using 6 pots,a nft top tray and a reservoir from another system, using a combination of canna and dutch pro hydro nutes. That is my way of hedging my bets and ensuring a supply of a known quality whilst being able to trial the psychosis x blues organically on soil and using medi-one to feed with a view to hopefully finding a keeper from one of the breeder versions.

Luckily all 4 psycho/blues are females.I have found since using LEDs solely my female ratio from regular seeds has gone through the roof.I find males very, very rarely.I am sure this is because in terms of environment my growspace is like a 5 star hotel.I only concentrate on getting my temperatures and humidity levels correct, and with as little fluctuation as possible between day and night, the plants grow themselves. Not 2 weeks ago the 4 plants were looking very sad with discoloured leaves, now they've bounced back beautifully after being upgraded from the propagation area to the veg area proper. There is absolute uniformity between them, only a keen observer would notice some subtle differences in leaf shape growth habit between the UGORG and KGB versions.I can only assume KGB selected a somewhat more indica dominant/squat male for his cross as the KGB plants are both very slightly shorter than their UGORG counterparts. All 4 were topped last night at 10 nodes, somewhat later than I usually would, but were branching nicely before pruning.
All 4 plants have double serrated leafsets to some extent, but the KGB plants are more so.All plants have the familiar skunk/cheese aroma and are quite pungent even in veg.The space will go onto 12/12 probably next weekend.I wanted to give the clones at least 7-10 days of pre-growth before bloom and give the soil plants a similar period to recover from being pruned out.

photos will follow from bloom week 3,thanks for looking in.

I reckon its another skunk number one pheno. I do believe it.. psychosis, s8 ,exodus etc.. they all look identical in veg, leaves, structure. similar in flower.. supafunk here started growing out a very old pack of sk1 and got another very similar female. too much coincidence imo.
herbalizor, that's quite a specific theory.. what made you come to that conclusion?

My eyes aint what they used to be...

My eyes aint what they used to be...

So after a couple of days bloom one of the kgb plants I had thought was a gal showed me otherwise..a day or two after that and the other kgb cross proved itself to be a male too.. :comfort:
The 2 ugorg psychosisters smell very different. One smells woody and unpleasant whilst the other is very skunky. The both have almost horizontal branching which is something I haven't seen for a while.I'll update the thread in a few weeks with some flower shots but in terms of a comparison this thread has had it...I will definitely run some of each next time I plant either, but for the near future my seed popping will be mainly dj short varieties as I have 3 strains itching to be grown.
