I might be able to get hand on alot of seeds from this region
It would mainly be the high altitude "cream" strains
Would anyone be interested?

Or are indian cannabis genes widely spread?

What is Parvati?

It's a valleyregion in Himachal Pradesh Northern India

Or are indian cannabis genes widely spread?

Mandala Seeds has used some norther Indian genetics but other than that they are not too common in their pure form.

I'd like to see what they look like grown out, India is an intriguing place for cannabis I'd love to go there myself.

People's interest would probably depend on the quality, if they produce nice plants vs they are just ditchweed.

My point of making this thread was that i have friend living in Parvati parts of the year i could probably get photos of the plants before they take out the seeds. The reason im asking is if i should take more seeds or just for myself.

Do the high altitude strains have any negative aspects needed to breed out?

Maybe i could gift the seeds to a seedbank\breeder?

anything else worth noting?

I've spent quite a few years in India, mostly the Northern foothills of the Himalayas in Kumoan.

The plants there are mostly sativa and are somewhat wild and uncultivated. Like the Riff in Morocco, there is a lot of wild pollen flying about since the plant is indigenous to the region (there is a theory that cannabis originated from the Himalaya region). Because most of the plants are used for charas from seeded crops the plants have yet to be line bred. This has its advantages since the cannabinoid profile is apparently quite full giving a wide range of ratios instead to just heavy thc pheno types. The locals use the plant for a lot more than just smoke.

In some areas the plants look a lot different to others in another valleys. The range is pretty staggering because of all the variance in environmental conditions; some areas get less light and are lower altitude and vice versa with all the differences in between. Some farmers select and some don't. I would love to see more from India in pure form. RSC has some good wild examples which I've grown. If I had the space I would love to line breed and nail down some traits. Tom Hill has his North Indian seed line which supposedly has an amazing terp profile. Maybe one day he'll release it..

Other than Nepal, other areas of extreme interest are Bangladesh, Sikkim, Kashmir, Assam and middle India (Gujarat state etc). It is a vast country and there are sooo many things still undiscovered there.

I would say get the beans and find a mother. I would certainly be interested in your findings..

You could send them in to Seedbay for the ICmag server fund, I'd buy some if they were cheap to play around with indoors.

Sounds like some very cool seeds to have! I have a future plan of a 2-3 month hike through India and Nepal in search of seeds(and smoke!) then I will ship seeds back for further research. I am really interested to see the differences in the herb from region to region. India having so many climates within itself, must allow for a massive range of Cannabis genetics to thrive. I would be especially interested in some Indian Sativas!

Since the interest is fairly good i will request some seeds.
Everyone noting their interest will be contacted when seeds are here.

Most prob i will donate them to seedbay as someone suggested.

I would like to try a wild seed seems everything has kush in it your seeds sound like a fun run I hope you find a keeper

Ive always had interest in Indian cannabis. Main reason being, diversity. I love a seed line with plenty of diversity amongst its expressions. It makes for a really fun grow, especially if its origins and makeup are mostly unknown.

Thanks much! :)

Hey Anders,

Do you happen to have a bit more infos? Like how these plants look and smell, seed size, at which altitude the grow, if it's a pure charas variety, a multi-purpose one or a feral population...

And thanks for going to share some hopefully rather untouched landrace genetics.
Besides, I'd be very interested in a few seeds myself.
