Hi everyone,

first time grower. Jack Herer, this is the end week 3 flowering. Been veggin her for 7-8 weeks.

Been losing some leafs that started to yellow.. check out the pics.
its been yellowing for a bit, I've added some nitrogen to it and it stopped. Yesterday I upped my nutes Dyna Gro Bloom from 2.5ml to 4ml (Thier schedule says it should have been 3 ml to 4ml) But i just found the feeding schedule. Is the increase too big? Or is this something else?

I been shedding bunch of leafs and scared

Sorry for bad pic taking.

Thanks in advance

Try waiting to see if it happens to more leaves. Also, which leaves is it? Upper/middle/lower leaves? If it is lower leaves, it can be because of lack of light. Just fuck it and trim them. If light can't reach them, you don't need them.

There's a form to fill out in the sticky above. In order to get real help, there are many variables to consider.

ARE YOU USING?

SOIL:

How long has this problem been going on?
What STRAIN are you growing?
What was the establishing technique? (seed or clone?)
What is the age of your plants?
How long have they been in the soil mixture they are in now?
Were they in the same mixture when they were seedlings/smaller plant? If not, what mixture were they in before?
How Tall are the plants?
What PHASE (seedling, vegetative or flower) are the plants in?
What Technique are you using? (SOG, SCROG etc)
What size pots are you using? (Include how many subjects to pot)
What substrate/medium are you using? What brand of soil mixture are you using?(percentage of perlite, vermiculite...etc?)
What brand Nutrient's are you using?
How much of each nutrient are you using with how much water? *Knowing the brand is very helpful*
How often are you feeding?
If flowering, when did you switch over to using Bloom nutrients?
What order are you mixing your nutrients? (example: veg nutes 1st, bloom 2nd ect)
What is the TDS/EC/PPM of your nutrients used?
What is the pH of the "RUN-OFF"?
How often are you testing pH/ppm/EC/TDS?
What method of pH test was administered? Using Strips? pH pen?
How often are you watering?
When was your last feeding and how often are you feeding?

How old is your bulbs?
What is the distance to the canopy?
What is your RH Factor? (Relative Humidity)
What is the canopy temperature?
What is the Day/Night Temp? (Include fluctuation range)
What is the current Air Flow? (cfm etc.)
Tell us about your ventilation, intake exhaust and when its running and not running ?
Is the fan blowing directly at plants?
Is the grow substrate constantly wet or moist?
Is your water HARD or SOFT?
What water are you using? Reverse Osmosis (RO)? Tap? Bottled? Well water? Distilled? Mineral Water?
If using tap water, what is the ppm/EC/TDS of the water right out of the tap?(Only if you have a tds pen)
If using RO,Distilled, mineral water, what is the ppm/EC/TDS without any additives?(Only if you have a tds pen)
Are you using water from a water softener?
Has plant been recently pruned, cloned or pinched?
Have any pest chemicals been used? If so what and when?
Are plant's infected with pest's?

The Setup:

Growing Jack Herer using seed. She is about 18 inches tall and 11 weeks old, 7 of which been vegging.
Been in the same soil 8 weeks. Had the same mix of 45% CIL Plus Worm Castings NPK 0.5 0.5 05 pic 45% Organic Choice potting mix NPK 0.10-0.05-0.05 pic 10% MG perlite ( pic). Using SCROG, 5 gallon pot, plastic cup during her infancy (first 2-3 weeks) then a liter pot - about 4 weeks.

Did not give her nutes during veg. Started with Dyna Gro Bloom. ( see pic)
I was following directions on the back, giving it 1/2 tsp per gallon. I watered her with a gallon all the time, I get a little bit of runoff with that amount. I use tap water that I let sit for about 4-5 days (in between feeds). Tap water pH is 7.5, about 7.1 after I add the nutes, and I use lemon juice to adjust the pH to 6.5 before feeding her. Run off is 6.5.

Recently, following Dyna Gro Bloom feeding schedule that I found (see pic) I increased the nutes to 7/8 tsp, about a week behind schedule with the increase ( learning as I grow).

High pressure sodium bulb and 250w ballast with reflector both brand new pic. I am using 2x 120mm computer fans that are on, one for intake air on bottom and the other fan for exhaust on top. Also a big rotating vertical fan blowing well 24/7. Air blowing directly on the plants.

She been veggin on 18/6 and flowering 12/12. Dont have proper temp gage ( need to replace cheap thermometer) Its about 30c /86f during the day and about 15c/59f at night.

Dont have TDS/ppm/EC.
Plant dont have signs of any infestations imo.

What happend:

Bottom older and newer growth started yellowing - about mid week 2 of flowering.
Compared pics and symptoms to MynameStitch diagnostic post, and concluded that its N deficiency.
Also because she had no nutes during veggin and DG bloom is 3-12-6. So I overdozed her with a blood meal ( see pic) by mistake, giving her 4tbsp due to conversion error. removed as much as possible same day, about 2-3 inches from top , replenished the soil with same mix to cover the small roots.

Added proper doze of 1tsp... nothing happend after 4 days. Added about liter of pH'd water with 15:1 mix with urine... read that it good source of N. Yellowing stopped for 3-4 days. Fed her with the increased amount of nutes (first increase), yellowing appear in lower and middle leafs.

Should I add more urine as N? Could this be due to lack of light as Nostur suggested?

it could be lack of light, how far away from the top of the plant does the bulb sit?
if it is not that the most likely problem new growers have is over feeding
all the best .ww

light is about 12 inches away. But its fairly bushy, i could def see how its not reaching down there. I got limited space, cant put the light at an angle

W

have a google for hps lighting charts ,i keep my 600watt between 4-6 inches away with no problem ,perhaps try putting it a bit closer ,but keep the air moving ,with your plant food start off at 1/4 of what it says and work up to the full amount .over feeding is a bitch and takes ages to flush back out so be careful atb.ww

thanks willy,

Will lower the light. I will also tie all the branches to the sides exposing the middle more. Do you think its a good idea? Or just let them leafs die off?

that's up to you ! keep a real good eye on those leaves ,if the end starts to burn back ,then it is overfeed most likely and that is another real pain ! less is more and all that ! atb.ww:tiphat:

Text book n deficiency. Use a tad bit more nitrogen or "grow" nutrient. They will be fine with one recommended dose. You dont need to start at 1/4 strength. She needs food. If she dowsnt get enough she will move the nitrogen to the newest growing leaves and will steal nitrogen from the older leaves to do it. Dont feed full strength multiple times, but she can take a hard shot right now, she needs it in fact .

Using dynagrow, go with 5 or even 10 mls per gallon one time and watch what happens.
Of you dont feed enough , its like a marathon runner that didn't eat breakfast, she will tire oit early. Been using dyna for years and u can feed higher than recommended, especially if u are not feeding with every watering.

Get some pure protein dry or ocean grown and do a foliar if u dont want to go so hard with synthetics.
