The MOntreal chemo is called so because we received it here in the 90 s and have kept it since then. A guy from BC came in the shop with two yellow leafs and said : here is the chemo dudes....keep it, tend to it, i will be back one day....the dude never came back.
From what i understand the ubc version is taller, slender but the descriptions surely makes them sound related....

I actually just finish growing some chemo aka grape chemo , this breed came from mtl back in the day 12+ years ago and clones can still b bought at a compassion clubs in the GTA, this girl branches out like a champ , very short and stocky plant at 63 days trichs where 5-10% amber for me, I heard it got lab tested a few times from different people with around 24%THC 4%cbd

I forgot to add, this chemo plant was the one being sold heavily in the MTL compassion club scene since back back in the day.

If the MTL and UBC are different, I would speculate there could be other cuttings too? I would love to have been able to grow out the seeds Chemo came from. Imagine Chemo's sisters.

Has anyone ever heard of the supposed lineage of Chemo? I expect it is a hybrid of mostly Afghans with a touch of Sativa in there, but I really don't know.

Havent seen bubble but seen plenty high quality sativa oil made . High yields.

Mid 90s this was the big strain going around Toronto. I still have beans and hybrids and my line was proofed by the old school growers. I had it at the 2nd TY and it was the nicest thing at the show. It started as a tetraploid and it has lots of vigor. 50% larger than everything else. Even the offspring I bred kept shining as super hardy with 50% larger colas than the rest. Lots of citrus terpenes here too. I am running a few other Chemo`s now in R and D. We will see if they stand up to the name. My buddy has 2 different cuts he has preserved for many years. Both are in his top ten list so the hype is real.

I don't really think Chemo is a tetraploid, but I can say Chemo has fertile seeds. I have grown seeds off the Chemo cutting before. It is fertile. I am not sure if she will produce pollen when reversed, but I am going to try that soon too.

I agree ,and I wish I had a beautiful Chemo male, but I want to preserve Chemo in S1 as backup. I will always keep a cut of original. I am just worried about her dying out someday. Same with my Friesland cut, I will self her, then move onto regular seeds after I have those building blocks backed up.
I am going to grow about 30 Malawi gold males to choose from to pollinate all my mothers soon though. The Chemo will get lots of love! Then I have 100 F-13 seeds to find some males. The Chemo will be in fem and regular(hybrids) form once I am done.
I thought of back crossing the Chemo as well to get 75% Chemo. I think first I will just hybridized it, grow out F2s and pick for heavily Chemo influenced plants. Backcrossing will be used only if nessecary to preserve those awesome knockout medicinal traits Chemo possess'.

Tetraploid(quad) crossed with a Diploid produces a triploid. There is some infertility showing up in the triploids which is how some monsanto guys can protect their clones from getting out and making seeds. They find the infertile one and keep it going.
Triploid x Triploid = Triploid One Chemo from BC tested as a Tetraploid (quad or tri not sure) in Hornby`s lab and that is the only tetra he has ever encountered. He didn`t remember what tested that way and I aksed was it chemo and he remembered that was it.
Master Kush(aka Highrise) from amsterdam is a tetraploid. Many Masterkushes going around are just hindu kush x skunk #1 not the (highrise masterkush)

Yes Tetra =4 Meant to say Poly.

There have been mules who have reproduced when they are said to be infertile. I read a book on Polyploids and there are many strange things possible for breeding with them that scientists cannot explain. Triploid x Diploid = Diploid or Triploid. It is at least possible some of the time from what I have seen. I have been wanting to make some Tetraploids and play around with them. Some breeders aim for Triploids as the final result although I would like to keep everything tetra and work with them to make new tetras.
