Have fun, enjoy the shows, and stay away from the tables. If you really have to gamble let me give you sage advice as a former gambler...Stay away from roulette, big wheel, and all the others that offer big payouts; they are sucker-traps, and you would be better off throwing your money at the poor drunks!
The departure tunnel in Vegas was hilarious. When I went the whole trip was loads of fun, but this stuck in my mind.
I struck up conversations with several people waiting for their flight back home and each one I talked to had "won lots of money."
I had lost a couple grand over the course of a few days of playing around. If I had just stayed at the blackjack table I would have done fine, but I tried to learn craps and played some of the guaranteed loser games like roulette. It was all in fun. I didn't go there expecting or really wanting to make money just have a good time.
But out of everyone I talked to I was the only loser. I talked to probably 15 people or so. $5K here, $10K there, several "break evens," and even one $100K winner who was getting his ass handed to him by the slot machine he was playing in the terminal as we were talking.
Everyone was racking up the Benjamins except me. Of course, while I'm sure there were a couple of people I talked to who had won big not all of them had. If everyone in the departure terminal was winning in Vegas, then Vegas wouldn't exist. The one's who purported the biggest winnings where likely the biggest losers, but determined to convince others and themselves that they where actually winners.
Vegas is full of interesting human psychology.

I'm not a gambler, when I was younger I played a lot of Blackjack and Poker.
The girls had a good time and about wore this old man out. One of them had never been to Vegas and they dragged me around the Strip.
Now I am back home to recover from being up for 20 hours for every day for 3 days.

I lived there for a bit... fun to visit wouldn't want to live there again....I try an go a few times a year......
