How long until Texas gets it's head out of its arse?

Finally kicking stodgy perry out, but now we got wheeling Greg abbot coming up as the next republican gov. He's not any more medical marijuana friendly, much less recreational. Wendy Davis is ok on medical marijuana but she's a real long shot n this George bush, tree killing-chain-saw slinging back country this state is.

Oh Texas why will you be the last state???? We could be the biggest producer of high taxing revenue producing plants!

The thing about legalization is, in most states, it's RE-legalization.

3 of the more widely used components of prescription drugs in the US were - cocaine, opiates, and cannabis ... until 1937.

So Texas got along fine before, when Cannabis was legal.

I sense that the police state in Texas is sort of intense. They don't want to lose their leverage, especially on the demographics that are more highly prosecuted for possession - poor people, people of color.

I have a friend who is wealthy, and likes his weed, and manages some businesses in Texas. He never worries about the law, he's just discreet and smokes his herb.

There seems to be some sort of un-written rule, whereby Texas cops don't hassle rich Cannabis users if they are discreet.

Which doesn't help poor Cannabis users.

I don't know but whenever I hear my friends back in Florida complaining about things, I do usually end up telling them, "Don't worry, Texas will be the last state to legalize, not Florida."

some really really nice spots for sale I scoped when I was hauling disposal water for oxy in West Texas some years back would be tempting if it wasn't west Texas boring as shit out there have to drive 1.5 hours to oddessa/midland to go to a walmart because the FT Stockton walmart sucked that shits for the birds. Very Very conservative people for the most part most seem to hate EVERYTHING about Cali they think the influx is bad now legalize and see what happens :) Austin feels like Cali Frisco Tx feels like the oc minus the snobby douche bags....If they do legalize i'd actually think HARD about moving to Frisco Tx really nice place I know three families from so cal that have moved there and love it.

I read that the demographics are heading in the direction of TX becoming a blue or at least purple state, long about 2020 or 2024. Things will change eventually. -granger

texas might git'er dun before california

Oddly enough, you might be right. California has so many conflicting vested interests that it's difficult for them to build a coalition to pass an inclusive ballot initiative. It may require the legislature.

Texas, I think, will lag behind for entirely different reasons.

You have to remember, Texas is in the 'Bible Belt- Wet n dry counties, the Blue Law etc, all courtesy of the Southern baptists who will have the final say on all things med and that will only happen when Jesus comes down and makes a final ruling. Of course, Jerry Jones could help sway things but i think he prefers crack...gigglin profusely CC

NEVER!

I have had tons of fun in Texass (Not a spelling error :) ), but it is the Bible Belt, and there are just to many conservatives.

MOVE!!!!!! Get out of the South, and you will not regret it one bit. The best thing I ever did.

The south sucks balls.

Please everyone living in Texas get the fuck out of that redneck, inbred, bible thumping, back-woods state. Especially those of you living in H-Town. Everyone I know that got busted growing in Tejas is spending life in prison. Flee for your lives!!!!

Nothing better than bashing Texas. What a shit hole.

We are the epicenter of the police state. No where are the cops more thuggish than here.

It sucks and it's hot as fuck, but all the jobs that make money are down here.

Some of the jobs that make money are down there, I'm sure. Depends on your skills, I think.

Familiarity, friends & particularly family tend to anchor us wherever we are, too.

Being newly retired, I can live where I want, just so long as prices aren't ridiculous. I've always liked it in Denver, even better now. I may never set foot in Texas, let alone live there.

Anything related to the O&G industry is down here. That's about the only industry going these days.

Or North Dakota. I'll take the heat over -20C any day. I spent a winter in ND running directional jobs and it wasn't a lot of fun.

A former co-worker grew up on a farm in N Dakota, very near the border. Left home at 17, came to Denver, hadn't been back in 40 years. She said she's never going back. Ever. Not even in the summer.
