Female Germination Temperature

H

HerbScience

At what temperature should I germinate a seed to improve my ratio of females to male? Just got a thermostat for my heating mat and now I'm curious really where to set it.

Female an male seeds are pre determined what they are going to be. When they are made. Nothing you can do to change that. It's a toss up.

Here we go again...

D C tells the truth , there are threads on this subject with very differing opinions . Now we will have people telling me I`m wrong but I can tell you from experience that high temps will produce more male I,e upper 70`s + F .

Set thermo to low 70`s around 72-74 is ideal & you may get more female ,ideally check with a thermometer for several hours to ensure your thermo is accurate if you do find more fem you will be another one to have proved the point .

I have read that cooler temps promote more females than males.. not sure if this has been scientifically substantiated though. Peace, DJSF

I'm gonna try lower temps on the seed I'll be sprouting soon. I'm not going to argue about it since I don't think anyone has more than opinion and hearsay. I'm just going to do it and hope for a better ratio. Good luck. -granger
