Flowers taking forever to finish.

Hi all. I've got a nice room, sealed up, big a/c, co2, air cooled 750 watt lights, dehuey. I'm growing in 7 gallon pots of Botanicare Ready grow. I'm using RO water, with GH Lucas formula, a little cal/mag, liquid karma and towards the end of flower I'm adding H&G's Bud XL. I've been trying Top Booster too to help things finish up. My temps are in the 70s, about 80 at the canopy. I didn't have air cooled lights, but I added that thinking the canopy heat was doing it, but even the lower buds and those at the edges do it, and it isn't nearly as hot there. 40-45% RH. I turn off my co2 towards the end of flower and do fresh air. I turn my light cycle back to 11/13, then 10/14, but it still takes me 75 to 85 days to finish the SD.

My friend has a very similar room, very similar feed program and the same exact strains as me, mostly Sour Diesel, and couple others in the corners. The SD take a long time to finish, but it takes even longer in my room for some reason. His room was completely ripe around day 65. I'm on day 63 and I still have white hairs growing everywhere, they don't look anywhere near done. This happens every time in my room and I can't figure out why. They look like they are starting to ripen around day 55, then they shoot new white pistils everywhere.

Another friend has a nice headband strain. He gave me some cuts and said it won't go past 60 days. I'm at day 63 and they are sending out white hairs too. Even the Girl Scout Cookies have them. Any ideas what can delay flowering so much? I'm thinking of trying a different nutrient program next time because I am out of ideas. Thanks!

When you say your rooms are similar how similar are they? Any difference no matter how small can have an impact on the finnish times. Do you run the same light cycle with the same lighting? Are your clones veged for the same amount of time? Me and my girlfriend can run clones from the same mom but they finnish very different from one another. I grow in soil and she does hydro, she does a fixed 12/12 light schedule and I step my time down. Everything else is identical but she finnishes a week earlier then I do.

Ron, the diesel doesn't look ready at all. The other strains look closer, but are growing some new pistils/stigmas. But there's something weird going on in my room that is causing this and I can't figure out what it is.

Cecil, if it was just about finish time, I wouldn't be too concerned. I understand that there can be different factors that affect each room. We have similar climates, the same media, the same strains. What's bothering me is the way my flowers are not ripening. The flowers develop, then instead of ripening when they should be, they keep growing. Flowers shouldn't be putting out new growth at 63 days. Some of the other strains, like Girl Scout Cookies and Cherry Pie look like they're close to finishing, but are still putting out a few new hairs. The diesel, which is a longer strain, is completely covered with new pistils. Instead of fattening, swelling up, ripening and maturing like they do in my friend's rooms at this point, my plants keep growing new growth. I really want to figure out why.

Interesting. I'm having the same thing happen with my Bruce Banner, but doesnt seem like it's happening to anything else.

two things i have found make flowering longer
1. to much N
2. interapting light hours to take a look

Hope this helps...

Just saw this in another thread, interesting.

yah sam I ve done this in hydro , last 24-36 hrs before chop. I run nft system so I buy the large blocks of Ice from safeways, they're aprox 8"by 12" throw a bunch of em in REz also I don't turn on lights last 24 hrs or so in room, this way higher temps wont melt your ice, I also drop temps to like 68ish to tell the ol girls to brace themselves, Winter is coming....... seems to get em goey n Oozing goodness, however don't leave the ladys in dark too long without chopping It makes em shoot out more white hairs,,

TS

I noticed you said you bring the light down to 11/13 then 10/14, maybe that's causing them to take longer and throw on more pistils.

How many watts/sqft of lighting in your room vs his? Differences in the bulbs?

I'm of the not very scientific opinion that more blue spectrum & intense lighting hasten maturity. I'm not totally sure of it, nor do I have any real basis for proof other than limited experience.

Thanks for the replys everyone. I think Coconutz nailed it. I have to walk through my flower room to get to my veg, and I expose my flowers to a little bit of light on a fairly regular basis. I thought exposing them to some light might make them herm, and I never get herms, so I thought it was alright. Feeling pretty dumb right now, but also excited that I may have figured out the problem. Thanks again.
