I've been ill for few years unable to work. Now i am recovering and feel i can do stuff. But theres a big gap between my education in uni and now. I figured to apply for volunteering jobs, am i right?

I had the same situation when I was laid off. I was getting a Masters so there was a gap there and I also couldn't get work after the degree so there was a gap there. I had to fuzz up the resume so the gap didn't look so long. Also the employment consultant said to put down any volunteer work, membership in trade associations, any community volunteer work and stuff like that. I know it sucks but it will get better.

temp work guys, shit pay, shit hours ,no rights ,and generally getting fucked over ,and let down ,but if you can stick it for a bit they will give you a reference ! and that is golden .
also splash plenty of colour at the truth in the old cv. lets be honest ,if you mention long periods of illness /sickness,who would want to employ them .
i know it is not fair ,but generally it is a fact.
other than that self employed ,do not even get me started with that one .lol
all the best in your search for work.ww

How good are you at creative story telling?

IDK what your background is... but I would just say I was self employed. Fabricate a legal business. I fabricated my internship in uni. You'd be amazed what people believe with minimal evidence.

The tricky part is finding the job/career where you actually want to go to work. It's tough when I know I could make more money staying home. I like my real world job though. It's more rewarding than growing for me.

start your own bussines , start small and grow with it. I did something similar a few years ago and never regret it

Don't tell prospective employers about your amazing ability for channeling aliens, cherubim or any assorted random denizens from alternate universes.
This may put you in the 'overqualified for task' category.

Just a helpful tip.

just get an entry level job in whatever your industry is. You'll be competing against beginners and people with no life experience. If you are worth a shit you will move up quick.

Im thinking of simply approaching big successful companies and asking for the very lowest / junior position OR simply volunteering.

Writing letters to them, popping in physically into the offices... stuff like that.

Having a dog doesn't help much either, hard to find a place to rent in other cities :S

The biggest kick in the nuts is this: my main niche is military. BUT, health is FUCKED, i can not do physical work! So im busted literally.

My second nich is computing but that also requires certain level of skill
