I've never been one to obsess about "numbers". They can be misleading. At least to me, and maybe I just don't understand them (no way I do hahaha). But they don't provide you insight into the experience of "feeling". Its information that seems to abstract at this point. But it IS information. To use or misuse LOL
About judging buds...
I don't know about judging buds soley by how they stand on their own with a clear head as being an indicator of greatness. Blasphemy, right? hahaha
Check this out before you start blasting me...
I found that I like to be introduced to new buds while already comfortably stoned - later in the session is actually my preferred time. That way, I'm not "looking" for anything in particular and I'm in a good spot I'm comfortable with. I warmed up. And if something is truly special, it will overcome the "barriers" set forth by the previous buds and dabs and drinks and whatever else.
analogy: its like being at a party hanging out with a bunch of really pretty girls who are all kinds of fun. And then their other friend, the new girl, shows up and just BAM! shows them all up. Or.... maybe not maybe she's just another pretty face. Depends on your tastes. But you take her home anyways. hahahaha because ABC always be closing hahahaha
Its during one on one time you get to learn and appreciate the finer points that caused it to stand out from the others in the first place. Or... you get to understand further why it didn't stand out initially. Or.... it could change even your mind - one way or another. Either way, that's not discounting a pretty face from being a pretty face in any way shape or form.
But I just like to see how they stand out in a crowd first.
All this is coming from a guy who likes to be pretty blitzed constantly, way more than a lot of you it seems, so maybe thats why I take a different judging approach, too.
Its all good either way.

To me bein fucked up is the worst time to try to judge a bud cuz well... Im fucked up, my senses are off specially if I been drinking. I guess there are those people who aren't affected by alcohol though you know th ones who drive better drunk and whatnot. Its like beig drunk and being asked to sample and judge a fine wine. lol....
