tips for growing within months?

Yeah there's supposed to be a 3 in that title...

Hey guys, i'm sick of growing where i don't live. Travel, partnerships, risk associated with partnership, travelling with product etc has got me wanting to grow at home. Where i am now i get inspections every 3 months. I want to time it right so i can veg, flower, harvest and preferable dry within that 3 month time frame..

Was thinking if i had rooted clones ready i could start vegging the day after inspecion, vegging for 2 weeks, flowering for 8 weeks, leaving me 2 - 3 weeks to dry and pack everything up. Though i'm wondering if 2 weeks veg would really be enough to get any decent sort of yield without growing a large number of plants? I could push that out to 3 weeks veg, leaving 1 - 2 weeks for drying time. As long as plants are mostly dry i could bag up and take elsewhere without running too much risk of mold, if i need to.

I usually grow 4 plants with 4 - 5 weeks veg time to fill my 4x4 tent. LST, topping, supercrop, whatever i'm feeling at the time. Never grown without some form of training and having a hard time deciding if i should start or not

Would vegging 9 plants for 2-3 weeks adequately fill a 4x4 space during flowering?

Would i have enough room to top 9 plants once (4 colas), without it getting overgrown?

I'm somewhat reluctant to grow with no form of training at all. I have seen friends grow like this and yes, they have a nice top bud but the rest of the plant seem kinda crap to me, along with their yield

Wanting ideas on relatively easy, hassle free ways i could achieve my goal. Need 12oz minimum, which should be piece of piss with a 600W right?

And being a single grow would i be better off cloning from flowering plants, or cloning just before flower, vegging under cfl's and cloning again to get timing right? Thinking the latter as it seems to be hard to estimate time it takes cloning off flowering plants. And when they do finally start growing they tend to shoot out in all different directions. If i clone just before 12/12 switch, veg under cfls, clone again 4 weeks into flower i should have nicely rooted, small clones (easy to hide) ready to go after the next inspection.. thoughts?

hey buddy, I guess when you say 4x4 you mean feet? thats about the same as my 1.2mtr2 and what you describe above is my preferred method... 9 x 11 liter pots, vegged for 3 weeks, topped once at node 5 or 6, in coco, under 600w.... this yields an avg of 55-70g per pot for me.

good luck :)

Yep 1.2x1.2m. Holy shit man you must be getting close or hitting that 1gpw? I have irrigation system i can use too, which i think could possibly speed up the process? How do you get rid of runoff? Main reason i usually grow 4 is because i catch runoff in trays and manually dump water in toilet. Grew 8 once it proved quite a pain in the ass dumping that much runoff...

Cutting huge clones, 12" or so would help, I think you also need to have MH or HPS for veg
too. Maybe a 150w or a programmable 400 digital that goes 50%-75%-100%. Also grow a good strain that finishes in 49-56 days. What you want to accomplish in 90 days is very doable if you line all the moving parts up correctly. Goodluck!

I'll veg under the 600. What i mean is clone under cfl, veg for 4 weeks under cfl while flowering, and clone again 4 weeks later.. or is this not a good idea for some reason?

Figure it will leave me relatively small, easy to hide clones at inspection time

oh I feel your dumping of run off pain bro... I hand water and I take each pot out of the tent and put it in a bucket (with a small plant pot stood in it so the run off can run freely).. its a massive pain in the arse and it takes at least 40 minutes for 9 pots.. but hey .. you're right, I'm getting good numbers so I feel my efforts are rewarded :)

I also take cuttings (up to 2 weeks into flower, after that I agree it's too much of an unknown coz they go well bonkers) and root them under CFL .. I like to get them 18 inches tall .. with my Amnesia cut for example, I know I'll get a x3 stretch and finish up with 4 and a half - 5 footers.. my cuts tend to run 9 weeks in all honesty, so there's a slight issue there with timing with regards your 3 month plan...

I still think you can easy clear 15-18oz with this method tho :)

Do you not think that 4.5 - 5 ft plants are too big? I generally try to keep them to around 3 1/2 ft. and clear out the bottom 1/3rd. Find light penetration to be an issue when growing too tall. Do i need to grow that big to hit such numbers?

I've always thought people on these forums grow their plants too big. 5 foot plants seem far too big to me unless growing vert. What are your bottom buds like? There is also the issue of ceiling height and fan/filter etc for me in a tent..

the 4.5 foot just about leaves me enough room at the top and if not I super crop (snap stems)... I also clear out the bottom 3rd and as such I don't really have much popcorn :)

should also note that I grow mostly sativa so I don't have the ease of low, short, bushy plants unless I scrog :)

Here is a BOG Sour Strawberry at 45 days.

I grow in coco. I take them over 50 days now but I used to take them around 45 and was very happy. They stay very short and bushy and must be topped a couple times in veg.

Otherwise you might consider hitting the microgrowers forum and scrogging inside your PC, speaker cabinet, mini-fridge, etc. Something small enough to be locked in your vehicle during the inspection. There's a guy who grows inside a tupperware bin. Just carry it to the trunk!

I was doing a coco 2 week veg for a minute. They blow up fast, they get about the same size...... But... It's just not ideal. The spacing is gappy, flower set is slower for the most part, works better with some genetics than others. All in all I think if your used to a properly vegged plant you will be disappointed but it can be done. Best bet would probably be to stack them in there and cut the side branching but leave the growth at the stalk itself. In a perfect world with the right genetics this can make a big central cola and little else.

IMHO this is probably better in theory than in practice. I got off this program a while ago and am happy to be playing with some properly vegged plants.

Just my .2 cents

I'd veg in 6" containers, timed, pruned so they're ready for final transplant day of inspection. You'd need a week or so for rooting before flip. You can put a lot of 6" containers in a Lawn & Leaf bag. Take them elsewhere day of inspection. Good luck. -granger
