Vertical Limit

Cheesy Movie I remember from sometime awhile ago :)

Ahoy!

This will be my little vertical journal, a journey in the making.

All of this is intended to keep plant numbers down for medical limits, while making some killer organic medicine for my patients.

This is going to be all experimental on my end and I hope for decent results. As of now, the initial flowering room will have 4000w in it. 2 Tubes with 2000w per tube of light. Maybe 3000w per tube, not sure yet. Need to see how it goes with air and heat etc.

Each tube is going to be an octagon, with 2ft walls. Each 2ft wall will be 10ft high, all of this will be netting or trellis.

Each tube is going to have 2 floors.

8 Plants per floor in 10 gallon pots. Then there will be 16 plants per tube on the ground layer, this will be of a fast flowering indica strain.

So 16 Big plants, and 16 small plants, per tube, 2 of these are going to be built. Inside will be 1 1kw MH and 1kw HPS. I want to add 1 more HPS so it will be 2 1kw HPS and 1 1kw MH.

This is also a breeding project, not sure what is going to happen though. The octagons will be for production, and I may do 2 8ft verticals in the garage for breeding purposes.

SO, I will be running an organic soil mix that I made yesterday. Just mixed up over 400 gallons inside and am letting it cook for 30-45 days well the seedlings get old and ready. The soil is indoors and being kept above 75 degrees 24/7. It is going to be turned every day.

You can check in on this thread over at the organic section for my soil list. It may be too hot at this point, going to try and calm it down over the next few days.

Not sure if I will use seedlings as mothers, or clone them and harvest seedlings for some weight.

I am building a male room about 2 acres away from the house, all going to be HEPA filtered and double zippered etc to maintain as clean of an area as I can.

All of the plans for this are done, notebooks are filled and seeds are popped.

Of the 30 seeds popped, 27 made it so far. 3 are dead, no way around it, they didn't make it.

9 Phantom Cookies (reg)
5 Vortex (reg)
5 Hashplant (fem)
5 Ace of Spades (reg)
3 Pineapple Skunk (fem)

These are all just past the cotyledon stage and are just showing their first leaves. So, many things can still go wrong, numbers can change.

They were planted into equal parts EWC and Black Gold. They seem to be loving life. Every morning and night they are getting regimented classical music played on vinyl. This is surely epic for them.

Well, starting to get hungry, just got back in from working all day, and the soup is almost done. Will add pictures later, and can't wait to get things going. This is a far ways away from any flower pictures, but hey, its a start right.

Much love all

Day 1-5

Day 1-5

Day 1: Soaked seeds about 15 hours in well water through Brita Filter

Day 2: Planted into about 1/3 EWC and 2/3 Black Gold Potting Soil

Day 3: Started poking through saying hello to the world :)
CAM00193.jpg
Day 4: All Popped but 3

Day 5: 28/31 Seedlings made it and are going strong

CAM00197.jpg

Spent today fixing soil
Added: 1.25 Bags of perlite, 2 bags of humus, 2 bags of coir

Watered the compost pile a bit turned everything and mixed it all up for a good hour or so.

Can you turn a dirt pile too many times? Should I give it 2 days before each time I turn it? I was thinking let it all get air. It is 400+ gal of soil in a 3ft by 10ft space or so.

Still planning out my flowering rooms in my head.

Need to get cracking on building my veg/mother room. Will finish cleaning out the space and will build it out probably tuesday or wed of next week.

Just my little pic update, finally was able to upload.

Much love everyone

Well, is the dirt pile heating up in the middle before you turn it? Are the moisture levels good? How does it smell? That'll tell you when to turn it.

your seedling mix seems heavy. 1/3 EWC in potting soil without any extra perlite could turn into mud easily I'd think - I grew veggies for a summer in about 40/60 soil/ewc from seed and the media turned into paste.

The pile is getting pretty hot in the middle. I was reading 101-130 is the mesophilic stage or something, and after that is thermophilic, 130-150. Should I wait until it gets to the third stage before I turn it every time?

It smells great, still a little like shit and feathers but, ey what are you going to do.

The seedlings are doing great it seems. The water source I was using at the house I am at I was unsure of, but now I can tell it is a bit heavy in something.

Getting slight discoloration and leaf twist sting in a few, not too worried though. I grabbed some water from the store and they are loving that. I am in between moving out of the current spot and into the new one.

Over at the new house, we got the veg room framed out. It is going to be about 6'x12'x8'.
I will take pictures of everything today or tomorrow, haven't had a chance to. Really pumped about building this whole thing out, I am usually rushing around to get it together, this time it is slow and steady.

I am not sure the exact ratio of EWC to soil, but I can see that if I went ANY heavier on the EWC than it would have turned muddy. Good to know that it happens from that though, defiantly dense enough and small enough of a particle size.

I am going to be popping the next set of seeds in about 1.5 weeks from now. That way the harvests are a bit staggered, and I figured with cloning times etc, I should be able to get into a decent perpetual state after this run.

Thats it for now, small update and reply.

Much love all. Pce

Pic Update, Mutant Closeup

Pic Update, Mutant Closeup

Small Pic update.

Been working the last few days, got the veg room framed out. Waiting on a truck for drywall and insulation.

Got the R/O system and dehumidifier setup, will be incorporating both at some point. Need a pre filter though.

Tacked up panda paper just so the babies can feel out their new home. They are already loving the water and new home, just like the goldfish, their space needed to change.

Will be setting up the flowering rooms in the next few days, will update pics as I go.

My dirt is amazing, at least it smells that way and feels that way.

Innoculated some new bacteria a few days ago and have been turning it every 2 days.

Compost Teas are a brewing, things are turning up.

SO much to read and do, I love it. As always, thanks everyone for the cornucopia of information you have presented. Cant wait to learn more and apply more as we go.

Potentially getting 64 Clones from a friend to start the rooms up earlier than previously thought. Not sure yet what is going to happen

Much love all, later days

Great man!

I must say you've done your homework on your dirt much better than I have. I was hoping someone else would chime in and answer your earlier question better than I could.

Honestly I just sniff at mine, stick my hand in it, and if it seems like it's starting to smell wierd, it's too dry, or it's getting fairly warm, then I turn it. It's an incredibly scientific process.

Looks like you're well under way. Glad you're getting your dehu set up before you need it. Speaks well of your attitude toward growing :)

Little Issue

Little Issue

Gave them a light tea the other night, to try and fix this leaf bending/discoloration I am having. It hasn't seemed to help much. They are far from dying or anything, they just don't look as happy as I know they can be.

Sorry to not be very full with this post, I am in between work right now with very little time to spare.

They have been stunted growth, slight yellowing from the new growth, and now a weird vein issue is happening.

There watering situation has been a bit weird. I fed them only R/O water twice, without adding anything to it, then I found it this is kind of bad. So I brewed a tea and fed them the next night even though they could have waited a day, i figured they needed some food.

Their new transplant soil is now 1 part ewc, ocean forest, canna coco, size 3 perlite.

Not sure if this is overwatering, PH lockout or some odd problem.

Got to run, waiting for pics to upload and I am off. Thanks for any help, I am going to the bookstore today to see if I can find a certain book that I know has the answer in it.

Much love all, happy days

The mix seems a bit heavier and richer than what I've used for seedlings in the past but not as bad as some I've seen. That'd be my guess. Looks like they're a bit N heavy and like the leaves are a bit flat. I blame it on the FFOF.

I always thought the leaf flatness was them trying to dump extra water. I could be wrong about that. If they were my plant's I'd probably double check my own recollection on that one.

If that's the case then you can just wait it out and they'll speed up on their own in a couple weeks as they get used to the nute levels and build up enough roots to drink right from the heavier media.

Update

Update

Some pictures, showing you in no chronological order how things are going. Have had a great first run, chugging through the next now. Keeping my HP #3 and 4, one for unreal gas/lemon taste, other for resin/speed. Keeping 2 Phantom Cookies Variants. Made crosses with some male cookies pollen. Will be popping those in 15 days or so is what the calendar is saying. Too much work not enough time, everyone knows.

Just wanted to thank everyone for their troubles and guidance. We don't talk a lot, but I read intently everything people say. Everyone who posts lend a hand, whether they think it or not. Its all trial and error and we are all in it together.

Will try to update more but, I feel like I should be doing something else other than playing on the interwebz.

Will get some pictures of the new cycle soon, got 4 HP#4, 4 HP#3, 7 PC#3, 1 PC Variant, 8 Pineapple Skunk, 8 Vortex

Much love all, happy days.

I have been begging vertically but have been thinking of switching to horizontal, not sure. They have been growing just fine vertical but ya never know.

Popped 30 Aficionado Seeds a few days ago. 10 Black Lime, 10 Cherry Private Stock, 10 Chemdawg Private Stock. Most have popped as of a few hours ago, the chemdawg is a bit behind, with only 2 sprouts.

The pictures all suck, I will work on using the glasses I just got and taking pictures. BTW, I have to recommend Method 7 I believe is the company. Their glasses for HPS lights are the best I have owned yet. I don't even walk into the grow without them on.

Mixing soil soon, got so much to get ready. Trying to get the garage running also, too many things going on.

Will do updates soon, going to be chopping down soon, got the Vortex and Skunk comming off. Smoking some Vortex now, always chop a branch early, such a tasty smoke with a great head change. Not too intense, just enough.

Edit: My Veg room is 6-7'x12. How should I maximize this. I just grabbed another ballast, was either thinking 2 600w stacked, or 2 1000w parallel and horizontal. Thanks everyone.

Well everyone, later days and have a good few hits for yourself tonight. Its nice to sit back and take a few just for yourself, you deserve it.

Awesome set-up!!!! I'm about to dive back into a vert grow myself. I did one before with good results. I vegged vert and I loved it. It just made sense......gonna flower vert so I should veg vert. I also vegged horizontal though. I had a stacked set-up as well. The plants for the bottom level I vegged horizontal so they would have some height and stretch to them, and the top row got vegged vert. It worked great. I however knew the strains I was working with well(i.e. structure, stretch, final size according to root space). That played a major part with my final outcome being halfway decent. Once I got my strains dialed, everything else just fell into place.

So I know rule 3 is so double accounts from one member but I forgot my info and have been trying to remember it. We got into a bad car accident. Rolled my beautiful 84 Toyota and totaled it. My mind has been so scattered since then. It has been a month if being unable to log into most forums and remaking email address. If a mod could message me it would be great.

Well in the world of growing things are going good. Overvegging is real heh. Things got kind of off schedule since the wreck but getting back there. I have a huge Overvegging issue now. Live and learn. Switched a spare room over to run 4 plants in 25 gallons around a 1k. Just boredom. I could fit 8 and I might switch it over if this works out. The two coliseum are working great. I want to setup a third bulb for each of get a horizontal light mover to make 2 vertical light movers. Seeing the true potential of this setup as the runs keep progressing.

I lost my phone so I just got a tablet thing. Will update new pics soon as I can. I will work on better pics now I got the method seven glasses so I can make better shots. There's just not a lot of room inside the circles and I can't open the Rings too much.

Much love everyone and I do apologize to the admits for the two accounts one user thing. Please message me so we can fix this.

So I really let this run get away from itself. Contemplating a teardown and cleanup, semi restructuring and throwing the new set of clones in. Over vegging led to mites having a fun time. The plants to all their food in the soil way faster than I was ready for. It's all good though. Learning experience this time for sure. I usually coast along on the fact I can deal with situations whenever they come up. This car wreck really screwed up my game. I would post some pictures. But it's all shit.

16 black lime, 16 cherry getting ready to go in. Phantom cookies and hash plant finishing up. Don't judge me on plant health. Life is / was falling apart.

I found running light movers to be useless better to have a fixed light source rather then lights moving you will tend to see more stretch and slower growth compared to fixed unit sending constant light

Ripped down one side. It was stalled out so I said fuck it. Rebuilding a bit. Taking out orange plastic screens and putting in metal ones. Loaded up 16 black lime from aficionado. Can't wait to see these bitches indoor. Got tired and stopped but here's the update. Learned a lot these last few runs. Canopy control is what I really need to work on. Hope this one works out better. I can't complain about yields I just know I can pull more. Much love everyone pce.
