I'm a little disappointed with how they handled Smaug.
In this movie version, he woke up prowling and already a bit angry, ready to eat the thief in his lair.
In the animated version I loved as a child, he was smug and lazy from 200 years of lounging on a pile of gold, even willing to part with a few trinkets for a thief skilled enough to evade his gaze, not until Bilbo told one too many riddles was his anger aroused.
