WTF is a Jolly Rodger VP?

for 3500 it better be China Hat reflectors, bulbs and ballasts...???

It's a 10 light flip on wheels. Ballast, timer and everything in one heavy ass metal box. On wheels.

Looks very convenient. I can't find any reviews on this puppy.
I wonder if you can easily change out a ballast when it blows?

hey thats ridiculous. 10 million canadians dont need pot for medical reasons. now if its just made legal, then yes, ten million people will be lined up to purchase, although prolly not most of them at tweed, lol.

Those things are crap, cheap rocker switches, not even 2pole considering ballasts are wired for 240V. The mechanical timer is shit. It should have standard lamp receptacles not some duplex nema 5-15 receptacles, the cheap 58 cent ones from home depot lol. I've had to gut and repair several of those jolly rodgers and I wouldn't be to jolly if I was the owner of one. They could be built so much better and pass CEC/NEC. If you ever want one built professionally, give me a shout.

How much would it cost for you to build one?

Depends VP, I could build one with all digital ballasts, just mount the circuit boards individually. I have several ideas and features I would incorporate. The only pita for me is the enclosure, I would get Code Electric to build.

I think best option is to retrofit an existing jolly rodger with breakers and 600V lamp receptacles, they are designed really well, it's just the components that are an issue.

Well the Jolly break down from what I remember

Box $500-750 to build last time I remember hearing about it.
Ballasts Chinese $65 Wholesale. Batter ballasts with copper coil about $80-85
Flips $10-20 Wholesale
Receptacles about $3-4
On off/reset breakers can't remember.
Whole lot of wiring who knows.

Probably be cheaper to get a MLC like timer board (Although CAP Controllers is out of business), digital ballasts and a 10x10 flip box. With digital ballasts you're looking at cheaper then the Jolly Roger wholesale with say better switchable ballasts you're looking at much cheaper.

I don't have the costs in front of me

SG Lite ballasts (CSA approved) $79 wholesale
MLC Board 10 lights ETL Approved $550 wholesale
10x10 Flip $450 or 550 can't remember

790
550
550
$1890 wholesale.

950
650
650
$2250 -2350 + tax retail

just buy digital ballasts off alibaba.com qdong sunkan for $35 for a 600watt or 50$ for a 1000watt

they are even less if you just get the raw boards with no heat sync case. rack mount them with good air flow and they run even cooler then when they are in cases

plantistar bulbs $4 each

no wonder why hydro stores dont carry real bulbs made in Hungary anymore

$4 each damn

Considering they are not made in China you go ahead and buy those Chinese ones. I'm sure they'll even give you extra 10% just in case some burn out or fall off their base. I'll stick to normal Sylvania LU1000's. They do fail once in a blue moon but I've never seen onecrack or fall off its base unless it was a user error.

I'd have to dig out the numbers in my pos but I sold 15+ cases of Sylvania LU1000 this week. Yah doesn't happen to often these days but everyone's making sure all their bases are covered as their clones come in and not knowing how long the MMAR injunctions will last.

No one buys Plantastars here because most don't know about them. Most don't care to spend $55 for a bulb when a $30 bulb will do.

If you come to me asking for generic Chinese bulbs I'll point to you to a competitor that sells them, no thanks I'll pass on the sale. Its bad enough having to sell cheap ass ballasts because guys don't want to spend the extra $25 it would cost to have one that contains a Venture/Advanced core and the wholesalers wont bring in anything good. The industry is full of cheap fucks and then they bitch and whine about returns and bad batches.

I don't know where you are located but there are at least 4 wholesaler in the Greater Vancouver are that sell Sylvania or Philips 1000W.
